Officers have the option of swearing allegience to the Queen of New Zealand, however, ultimate responsibility for the decision making process of the NZ Army rests with the PM's office, not the Governor General.
What about Queen Alexanders Mounted Rifles (tankies)??? are they still that??

Yeah but remember that Queen Alexander was the Queen during WW1. Being named after a Queen doesn't give you a Royal Warrant.

That's Queen Alexandra's Waikato/Wellington/East Coast Regiment. Part of the Royal New Zealand Armoured Corps.

By the way, I don't hate her, I think she is quite a good leader but I didn't vote for her.

No need to apologise, but I maintain that the NZ Army, unlike the ROYAL New Zealand Airforce, and Navy does not have the same charter or Crown responsibilities that the other branches do.

The Medals have Royal Warrants because NZ is still a realm of the Empire (anachronistic as that is) and the Crown (our ultimate legal power) issues medals, not the NZ GOvernment. You will note that civil orders in NZ no longer have a Crown allegiance.

I will stand by Mangell's maxim for the last article: "everything the media says is true". That looks like nothing other than a PR exercise.

I would dispute that as they do swear allegiance to the Crown (I had a good read of the NZ Army website). While orders are issued by the government, their responsibility is definitely to the Crown.

As for it not being the Royal Army of New Zealand - it isn't the Royal Army of England (or Britain or the British Isles or whatever either). (www.army.mod.uk et al.)

I don't believe that the naming convention has anything to do with anything really (otherwise we'd have to have things like the Royal Metropolitan Police Force of Greater Manchester - (Met Manchester used to have a royal appointee charter - dunno if it still does))

The reason that there is no royal seal on civil documents is that there was a strong separation of Monarchy and Parliament in 1215 (Magna Carta) and then with Olly Crommers as well.(Ollys NMA should be noted as doing the right thing - sort of)

    That'll be a short discussion.

    Unless you want evidence.
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.
