1st race: Moi, Malcolm, Hels, Trudy

Gee thats funny.. could have sworn I was just behind Malcolm

Maybe my eyesight is going wonky, or perhaps I was going around the track the wrong way

Yeah, I'm not sure how accurate those results are, I think those may be the results Ms Number One wishes to be true, but I'm pretty sure I was further back in the first race. So there's a good chance you're correct there Mr VW... we may have to wait for the official results to be posted on the SCS website.http://scs.net.nz/results.htm

Focal length will definitely affect how slow a shutter speed you can use without getting blurred/shakey images. On my modest 55mm I can just 'barely' get away with 1/100th. Longer lenses will multiply the effect of shake'n'blur - kind of like trying to hand-hold a video camera steady at full zoom; terrible~

The rule of thumb for 35mm film is you need a minimum shutter speed of the reciprocal of the focal length. For digital cameras with a smaller sensor than full frame 35mm, you'll need to use the effective focal length in 35mm ff terms.

    Eg, 55mm lens = 1/55s shutter speed (1/60)
    200mm lens = 1/200 shutter speed (1/250)

But on a Nikon digicam with the "DX" sized sensor a 1.4x conversion applies:

    Eg, 55mm lens effectively 77mm = 1/77s shutter speed (1/125)
    200mm lens effectively 280mm = 1/280 shutter speed (1/500)

Of course, if you have 1/2 or 1/3 stop shutter speed steps you may find a closer match.

Sweet as mate - looks good. Did you like the spanky-looking CD? Now that's what I call professional, eh?

I won't have ma bucket with me on the 18th, but I'll hopefully be there with camera and a spanky long-range zoom lens in tow - so smiles everyone!

...then after that you lot better watch out!
