    RZ500 - re-bore

    Hi, anyone reccommend a good 2 stroke shop to carry out a rebore on an RZ500. all 4 cylinder need boring.

    Hamilton area please.

    Sorry I cant help you with who can do the job for you. When I had mine bored I had the rear cylinders bored .0005" ( half a thou) larger than the fronts, this was in a attempt to reduce the likliehood of a rear cylinder ceisure. You would be wise to choose carefully as there are only 2 stock oversizes available from Yamaha . Isnt Ginger Malloy somewhere round your way maybe somewhere near the big power station?

    I don't think a 2 stroke shop would do a rebore - they would send it to an engine reconditioner who would machine it for them.

    Thanks - you're probably right but need to make sure the machine shop are aware of the need for transfer port chamfering etc... some of the OEM's get a bit carried away with the spec requirements.

    It might be worth talking to either:
    Barry Lynch at Beaumont Engineering, or Hills Performance Engineering (HPE), both here in Christchurch.
