    Front end ZX6RR

The front end has slowly developed a dull knock type noise when compressing or extending the shocks (no its not the steering head bearings)
Dropped the shocks out an there's 5mm approx movement then the knocking noise and then it feels like the shock is actually starting to do its job...
Opened them up and looks like the prob is down the bottom end of the shock (valve assy maybe),spring and rod move down 5mm approx then dampening seems to start.
    Any ideas.??
Each tube had 350mls of oil in them.
    its an 05 btw

Are the bolts in the bottoms of the fork legs done up? You'll need to take the axle out to access them.

This affects yours and other road users safety. The forks need to be stripped to ascertain what has loosened internally. Dont ride it until this is done and corrected

    Fair enough coment...
Had another look and don't know where i came up with the 5mm lol
Pulled them out tonight, stripped them right down to zip and found nothing loose at all, assembled, set them back to the same settings i was running, and back in the bike...just a little too late to take it for a test...
Will try it out on the way to work tommorrow...
RT whats an approx cost to have them rebuilt?
Pm if you'd rather not spread it to the world...
    Thanks

I had noises & clanging coming from my kwacka front forks, a tip from good 'lo 'performance bikes' magazine was to tighten the caliper mounts while the calipers were forward loaded, that is push the bike forward, brake, hold brake on and nip up the calipers tight. Worked.
Some advice on KB is good, some is shit.

Yes indeed, pm me when you are ready. I have no desire to get involved in the possibility of dutch auctions as I prefer to do an excellent job at a fair price.

    Front end is sweet as...
Did the Rider Training day at Puke today ,first track day, yeehaaaa, couldn't wait for anzac day , i see a racebike in my future lol...anyway zip tied the shock and was surprised to see it right down on what i thought was quite a hard setting, wound on more preload, checked after session, more preload required, after last session got it sussed...have to say it handled real well by my standards no jumping around felt good.
Ended the last session with a 1.19 prob real slow by most your standards but i was more than happy with it...i know where i can loose heaps more time ...(wear tighter undies so my balls feel bigger!)
    Great day..awesome weather...

best noise on my 6 I had, took 3 weeks to figure out what the 'snapping-clank' noise was. An engine bolt had wound a fraction off, and the motor was moving ever so slightly against the frame, making the noise and magnifying it. I thought it was a front end problem for a while. Spectrum found it out for me and tightened it up and sent me on me way
