speaking of spiders... i found an avondale in my room the other day... needless to say i was paralised to the spot and screaming and laughing at the same time and calling my father to come and remove it... now, the thing is, no one wanted to go near the thing, just incase it decided to crawl or jump on someone... *shudders* so my father got the vaccume, extended the hose and his arm out as far as they would reach and sucked it up...

i'm sorry it may have died.. but it had to be done if i was ever going to sleep in that room again!! (now i'm all paranoid and check every corner of my room before i go to sleep.. heh)

I took a picture of it but it's not on the computer yet... the thing was so big it had it's own health bar!! (gamers will know what i mean) .... it was honestly as big as my hand spread out.. or almost anyway about the size of my hand spread out minus the tips of my fingers after the 2nd knucle...

My daughter and I found one outside her school a couple of years ago, a woman picked him up to show all the kids and it promptly bit her and refused to let go until after quite a few vigorous shakes of her hand. My daughter then scooped up the dazed spider in her lunch box and brought him home for us to keep as a pet, Mum is still none too pleased about it.

Hmmm, reminds me of an absurd series of images I found on the net a while back...

A few years back my youngest daughter aged maybe 10, refused to put her shoe on because there was something in it. I am in a hurry to go out, grab the shoe, and while saying dont be so silly gave the toe a bit of a squeeze. This weta leapt out at me, I did the total girl thing, it gave me a fright! Sorted out the weta and the daughter and then asked my son to go and get my shoes for me from by the front door.

I go to put my foot in one shoe and meet some obstruction, well I squealed about as embarassingly as possible and threw my show across the lounge room. My son and my lovely man were pissing themselves laughing. My boy retrieves the shoe and shows me the cush ball he had put there to give me a "surprise" Some men are utter bastards really...LOL

I hate spiders, but I have a modicum of respect for them too.

I was bitten on the arse cheek by a white tail while sleeping in the Brides parents sleepout the night I had finished photographing my friends wedding.

Was sooo sick. THEN I just about died one morning when I got boy out of bed. I flung back the top cover and a farken big one came crawling out from between the two layers he was still in the bed. ick

So what's my approach to spiders?

Where I used to let them just go about their business or pick them up with something and pop them outside I am now a buddists nightmare - cos unless I can positively identify them as a spider that I know is harmless (and rest assured thanks to hubby I do know many of them) I squish em on sight now.

We doo seem to get some horrible big bastards up here.
