Hyosung GT250R '06 - fork seal gone for the second time in 2 months!

Grease will overload an oil seal and flip it inside out, and likely pinch it and damage it in the process too.

Although my knowledge can be limited I realise that, the point I was trying to get across is that there should not be any grease around that area of the bike, so why would a presumably qualified mechanic at an approved dealership be making such statement and then sending someone on thereway, hopeing that it doesnt get any worse.

(I think we know the answer is that they cocked up the wok the first time and didnt want to own up to the fact)

Do any of you guys know where I can order fork seals and what size they need to be for the Hyosung GT250R '06?

Hell, you could always do it yourself. After doing it once you realise fork seals are pretty easy, just a lot of Meccano-style stuff to come apart and put back together.

Anyway, fork seals are usually specific to a particular fork, so you won't go to Bunnings and ask for a 33mm fork seal, you'll need to order a pair of GT250R fork seals from a dealer or summat. Surely somebody would have them online at a good price.

What side is your front brake on? Forks flex quite a bit, more than you'd think, and when you wind that big brake on you'll cause the forks to twist. Older bikes with spindly forks it's quite noticeable, especially if you do it in a corner or going down a steep hill. This twisting puts a good deal of pressure on the fork seal, and I've heard it labelled as a cause for blowing seals before.

Oh true, I didn't know that? My front brake is on the left side from memory, I guess that could be the reason as well, I haven't heard of that happening to others though?

I'm thinking it is just a stone chip or something, but I'll get the guy to check them out.

No just wanted to make sure there was a specific oil for forks and where I get it from.

I'm just going through the manual for my bike trying to make sense of it all.
