Buried 0.5m metre down, 3 metres in from the street boundary on the southen end.
You will have to plow up your whole lawn to get it.
Quite often they go to the hot water cylinder first.
Try the management resourse dept at the local council for plans and surveys, our local council has them all overlayed on maps on the internet.

I'd heard a rumour about it being on the street but thought they were taking the piss,I'm just about to rip the bathroom out and have no means of shutting the water off which is helpfull.every house I've ever lived in across the world has had a stopcock under the sink or in the garage,no wonder I can't find the bastard.

Thanks for that coldy,I wasn't really expecting a reply.Google shmoogle, the kaybees will see ya right. A little bling in appreciation methinks. topbloke.

There is no set place for them in NZ, usually they are just inside or outside the front boundary, depending on council. Quite often a good plumber will put an isolator as the water enters the house.

    Stopcock

The general rule is the Council insists on a stopcock outside your boundary, on the street (usually between your boundary and/or at the edge of the footpath). You are allowed your own within your property but in NZ you can count on the main one outside.

That's how the Council can cut your water off!

    Ross Kemp

Don't know if or when it might show in NZ but he recently made a doco about squaddies on the front line in Afghanistan. Bloody hell now that was an eye-opener. He sure does have balls and was very luck not to have got shot, as there were near misses.

Program shows the realities faced by the soldiers and doesn't hold any punches about some of the shbitty treatment of them by UK government

Bumped for those of you unaware of the outrage of TVNZ refusing to air this here. I think NZ'rs have a right to see it personally.
