Go to Greta Valley. You need a change,a fresh start, become a man and stand on your own two feet. You aren't going anywhere fast where you are now.You can still keep in touch with family, your not going to another planet.

Squiggles what are you thinking .

A guy like this needs some good country air. Might help him with the having a real life thing, he so desperately needs. However if it was Auckland vs Oto I am with you all the way.

If some fucker pulls a knife on you for a cell phone do you really need to ask what to do?

Hey, according to Mark, having a knife pulled on him is "nothing".

(Maybe it was just a bread and butter knife.)

It's just a reason to move flat really, nothing stopping me from finding another place in auckland.

I was already trying to decide if i would go or not prior to the cellphone events.

Yep move then ring on 'your' cell phone and say you have lost your phone. Have they stolen it. 'Bout three in the morning should do it.

Go for it man - change of scenery would do you good. I love it how 90% of the comments are just personal digs, it's pretty sad actually.

Sounds like a good chance to get away from your life problems, start fresh and anew. I think you are wasting time even thinking about it. Yea things are far away, use a mountian bike and save up while your waiting for your licience back. Who knows, by the time you had your full you could have the cash to get a black and silver cbr600rr like mine as you drooled over it for so long and begged for a ride, tui moment. Yes I will now tell everyone that you said you really like Honda, you just like to sturr shit about them here. But either way, you could get yourself sorted well down there dude!

    Mark.
    I voted "stay in auckland".

It's called 'running away from your problems' and trust me on this one, it never works.

I've met your flatmate and I have to say it is depressing seeing you living there. My advice to you mark is to find yourself another place to live - this time try a different part of Auckland. See if you can find someone to share a flat with and move to another part of Auckland - somewhere not so dodgy and with someone that is not dodgy.

You should be able to get a place on the social, I know there is a long waiting list dude but if that would work then let me know; You know I have contacts in that area, may be able to help you out.

Sounds like it is time for you to raise your standards.

Dispel that myth from your thinking. City living vs country living is a time/distance thing. Living in the city is like a hundred kms from anywhere if you compare the time it takes to get anything. The only way things are at your finger tips here is shopping by phone and getting stuff couriered.
The reason so many people are time poor is that there's just too many other people getting in your way. Takes you half a day to get what you could get in ten-fifteen minutes in a small town. Citys rob you of your time, the time of your life, and that is not infinite. It is a tough way to live.
The Greta Valley is very beautiful however you may find yourself being bored because suddenly you have so much time on your hands.
What's the average commute time in Ak? How much of that will you save each day, week, year, ten years? Say an hour a day... x5... x 48 ...x10 = Whoa! suddenly you've got a whole year saved. What are you going to do with all that time. Remember the mantra of city folk gone to the country....God - I'm so bored.... there's nothing to do.
Escape and get a life while you can.

Could be a period of sorts. It is a full moon on Sunday night so no doubt there will be a few more of these threads before the moon starts to wane.
