Mark, I left home at 16 to come to the South Island From Auckland, by my self and not knowing any body here, best thing I ever did.
You might find small town N.Z.is just what your looking for.Worth a look anyway.
If things don't work out try something else.
End of the day the decision is yours

Can't you just ditch the losers you are staying with and get a flat somewhere else in Aucks? Then you get to stay here close to friends etc and keep your current job, and get away from dickheads pulling knives etc.

I'm going to rent out my flat, pack my whole life into a suitcase, and go to Perth hopefully before Christmas. I'm going by myself, I've never been overseas before, and I don't know anyone over there, but like someone said on the first page, I'll regret it in 10 years time if I don't. You only get one shot at life, so you have got to try and make it work for you.

Best of luck, which ever way you jump.

Job in auckland just rang me, i told him about christchurch one and said it was very tempting.

At which point he replyed offering to pay me $650 pw after tax starting, going up to $850 after tax, for a 5 day working week.

    God dammit.

I was just on the point of saying fuck it christchurch to, now i'm not so sure lol.

Mark I strongly believe in the poll's result but I can see the pressure this latest development brings. I want so much to tell you what to do, but it is your decision to make in the end so all people can realistically do is discuss the pro and cons and leave it up to you. The poll was a good idea, have you got faith in it?

What is the difference in the 'total package'? Don't forget to take into account the cost of the flat vs flatting in Auckland and other factors like lifestyle and the true cost of living when you compare.

All I'd like to add is that the SI has some of the best scenery in the world and people are busting their arses to come and experience it. Someody is going to pay you to see it.

Sieze the day and the opportunity. As I have suggested to you on numerous occassions it can be good to get space and persepctive and for this you often need to step out on your own. It is one we have to take full responsibility for ourselves and don't have the usualy support networks that we come into our own.

From personal experience I had to move away from all my friends in Belgium to get the peace and space to get my head together after my dad died. It was hard to leave my home, my career, my life and my friends but it had to be done and I do not regret it for one second. I hate to think what would have happened if I had stayed there. I probably would not be typing this now, if you get my drift.

We all have to make our own decision but we can also learn from the wisdom of others. You must do what is best for you but at the same time try listening to those who care about you and who have been around a bit. Us oldies are not completely useless and I would say that some of us can relate to being a a difficult potentially life changing situation.
We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year,
Running over the same old ground.
What have you found? The same old fears.
    Wish you were here. QWQ

To be honest, I agree with you. sounds like skiddy your just talking a whole lot of crap getting alot off good peoples advice, and the worst thing is your doing nothing with it. I made all my life decisions on my own. I'm just glad I was blessed with the choices I made. Or other wise I would probably be in your situation. - Talking crap, with no bike no job no girl..

I really hope God or someone moves your life.

The auckland job is stripping car engines for parts. For a friend of mine who runs the business, he knows i will do the job well, so the pay is to match.

    40 hour week.

Yeah right. Most small business owners are happy to pay a premium for no real reason at all.

    Call it what you wish.

I'm asking for serious advice here not a public bullying.

Your guys kick me down pick on me all the time for not sorting my shit, right now i have two options at my disposal, and all you can find to do is shove my face in the dirt some more.

Being a bigger man, is not about physical size. Or who can be the one to pick on me the most to fit in with the "cool" group on KB. A true real man does not kick a man while he is down, he helps him out.

The way i see it, i'm the biggest man out of the lot of you bullys, because the rest of you have to do what everybody else is doing just to fit in.

    Think on that.

Before you go run another pity party for yourself - I wasnt insulting nor picking on you. You asked a question and I asked (quite nicely) earlier in the thread.

My comment was based on the fact that in business times are tough. Owners are generally not in a position to pay well above the standard rates for no real reason at all. Friendship and business are generally kept well separated by anyone with any smarts. Hiring someone at double the normal rate - why would they do that when they can hire two people and get twice the work done???

If a offer sounds too good to be true - it normally is.

I was calling bullshit on the role and rate - not having a go at you. Although Ill be honest and say you really need to grow up and get yourself in a position to make up your own mind and run your own life.
