    Opononi - 19 April 2008

Green is for GO: RIDE IS ON !!!!

Alright, seeing as I'm flying out to Australia on Sunday and can't join in the Coro Fun I plan on heading up north for a day trip tomorrow.

Where: Opononi (Up and back via Waipu Forest)
    Distance: Approx 650km
    When: Saturday 19th April
    Meet: 8:10am
    Depart: 8:30am
From: Kaukapakapa (Rural Fire Brigade concrete pad, if you cross the railway lines you've gone too far)
Weather: Only if its favourable (will post by 7:30am, pm me your mobile if you'd prefer a txt)
Suitable for: Sports, Sports Touers, Cruisers

Will be a big ride for one day, not newb friendly, but neither will there be any red mist.

If you can't handle cruising the parts of SH1 and SH16 that we can't avoid at 110km, this probably isn't the ride for you either. Mind you that said I've no problem if you come along just know that I won't be making any attempt to match your speed.

Stops will be minimal, fuel only, lunch at the fish'n'chip shop at Opononi.

My phone number is 0211 904 281 (Shane) if you want or need it.

Also a road report would be fantastic from someone in the know, cheers Shane

Courtsey of Rider In Black ....Sorry dude. Yep Mangakahia Rd (Twin Bridges) still has heaps of roadworks. Went throught the bit before Titoki/Mangakahia Area School today. Lime and lime and more lime Haven't seen the bit around the Twin bridges lately but it was being done at the same time as Titoki so it should be in the same state.

Now you are just teasing by sending a PM to a guy that has no bike ya bastard

I could bring my flat mates GN and see how long it is before a) I am so far behind I am hopelessly lost, or b) the poor wee thing gives up and throws a piston through the side of the cylinder, Hmmmmmm

For the record Qkkid was in my bed, not the other way round

Err, when we did the 250 Cape Reinga we went through Waipu Forest and back down the Twin Bridges.

Waipu forest is absolutely amazing condition and you'll love it, well sealed and all the rest. Just watch out for when you get near 'The Big Tree' because it'll be heavily packed with tourists and tour buses and all the rest.

Twin Bridges on the other hand.. now granted this was a little while ago (Easter) but not too long. There were multiple streches of really heavy gravel. Gravel bigger than golf balls.. absolutely ruined it for us. Do the Twin Bridges at your own risk or find someone who's been there more recently.

FOR SALE: '88 Yamaha FZX 750, low k's and decent condition. Looking for around 4.5K. Drop us a pm, view it any time. Oh, and trades considered for cruisers or naked sporties.

Was a good ride, some how managed to skirt around the rain the whole way up and back.

Rode on some wet roads at times but at least we weren't riding in the rain. Plus it made the dry roads that much sweeter.

SH16 was fun as well, different road in the wet on the way up, and for something different rode all the way back with out touching the brake once.

Anyway cheers Greg and Dan was great day out with you two.
