Boots to fit large calves?

Anyone have some good advice on boots that will fit large calves? I was hoping to replace my old Stylmartin Stormy's with some sports boots for the extra protection around the heel/ankle. The problem is that I can't seem to find anything that will do up, in fact the most I could move any zip was about an inch. I may have to live with touring boots, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask for the knowledge of the KB community. Cheers!

have you tried OXTAR i have some and they are pretty well protected around heal, ankle, shins,and seem ok for bigger calfs,

I have the same problem, small lady feet (well, normal size for a lady, but small when buying man boots) and find it hard to find boots that fit and will zip/velcro up over my soccer/horse riding built calves. Sucks I tell you sucks!! I have a pair of W2 boots I bought which are ok and a pair of Sidi boots that fit, but neither that I can zip up with my pants on the inside of!

I haven't tried them yet and none local to try. They look good and I know Quasi recommends them so hopefully he'll see this thread and reply. The boots also have to go over Quasi's touring pants so it's a double whammy!

Try MX boots. They have big adjustable clips. Plus they look chunky and tough. People will think you're a kickarse MX rider too, just riding your road-bike on your days away from the trails.

My Daytonas are a sport/touring style that have an adjustable calf fitting. I'm not sure if they are quite what you are after, but I've been really pleased with mine, and they are waterproof, too. I think the model is non-stop GTX or something similar. Good protection and room for my leathers tucked in.

Same for me with my dancer's calves, but in the end Oxtar Sunrays solved my problem. Even so, it took a while to get the gusset to stretch so I could tuck my pants legs on the inside. (I was despairing of ever finding a pair that would even do up, let alone with trousers "in" until the Sunrays).

Tried Gaernes today, but couldn't get them done up with jeans tucked inside, so no hope for leathers. They were comfy in an undone state though!

I wear Alpinestars SMX plus - they're kinda racey and have a clip around your calves so you can tighten/loosen them to fit. They have a zip that goes up to your ankle and the top is held by the clip. They're big enough to fit the leg of my leather suit inside them and I'm no stick insect.

Oh yeah, they cost about $350 if you find the right place to get them.

I tried three pairs of Alpinestars today. I don't think the SMX plus was in there but I can't get the zips done up once my foot is in place. Maybe I just have fat ankles?

And if your calves are really big just use duct tape to hold them closed...

Hmm, I have widish feet and larger calves, I started with Gaerne Aquatech's and they are not to bad but now I wear Sidi's that have an expandable upper that you ratchet tight, nice boots. See Paul at PT's, he got some in for me to try but be warned, they are expensive.
