Love that piece of music and I think it is played by a guy who is a guitarist in The Herbs.
Anyway haven't been able to find it to download - whats it called? Any ideas where to look?

here is what i've come up with just quickly
Tama Ranata was the guitarist. He used to play in a pub I worked at every Sunday night (on the wharf at Devonport), played that every week, amazing guitarist. He got offered to play overseas with the best, Clapton & the likes but turned it down to stay in NZ & be near the Whanau.
To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and to endure the betrayal of false friends. To appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded
Thanks Dan, oddly enough when I searched about a year ago I couldn't find that CD. Anyway looks like it is simply called "Theme From Once Were Warriors" although I've got this sneaky feeling I downloaded that and discovered it was a different piece of music.
Cheers
Ok found it "Once Were Warriors (The Awakening)" and it is NOT the Theme music - that is a different track. Cheers.

Fix a computer and it'll break tomorrow.
Teach its owner to fix it and it'll break in some way you've never seen before.

In the movie, there's this scene where they're having a party and the guy with the guitar starts playing something funky. And someone says:
"Oh, don't play that shit, friend ... play something we all know."
I've always wondered - was the guitarist in the film the same guy who did the title music?
