I am not asking for any tips from anyone, I've bought/sold some cars and bikes before. Just getting a feel of what people think of the idea. I will most likely do it anyway.

Just wanting to see if anyone does pick out on some points which I may be overlooking or have not thought of.

Yeah most things I've sold on TradeMe have been on $1 reserve and to be perfectly honest most times I've been happy with it aye, that's why I am thinking it's time to chuck the cars as well.

The $1 reserve concept in my opinion is a total bitch fight, quite entertaining for sellers and most times you'll end up getting more than what you would have had in mind.

Well that's how it's been for me so far. And I am thinking if it hits and goes past of what I had in mind the rest will go to charity as I have done before

Yeah it gets even crazier when people start from $1, same thing as you're describing. They start from $1 and don't want to give up till it's nailed home.

    been in same boat before

Had the option of waiting or $1.
Ended up doing a compromise put buy now at the price i wanted, and reserve at half that. 1 time it actually got me more than the buy now!

Im thinking of maybe doing the same thing... but then maybe not (not sure if I have the 'balls')... need to sell 92 subaru legacy, 17"mags/sounds/tints/lowered etc... but all those thousands I spent doing it up... wont get that back on it lol!! If I do a $1 reserve I may only get a few grand... funds from getting rid of said cage go towards new bike & now im down to 3 cars, one more has to go!

If you can deal with possibly not getting as much as you expected... then go for it !!! take a gamble, ya never know how much someone else might want 'that' car...
My dad put a beer mug on trademe with a reserve of $20, it went for $350!!!!

Been there done that. As long as you're prepared to let them go for the final total on a $1 reserve then go for it. Sometimes the money is better in your hand even if it's less than you'd have liked. If you can't be fagged haggling and holding out for more money the $1 reserve is a risk that can sometimes pay off better than you expect.

True nice replies. Yeah I've spent a few grand on my GTO as well, not doing it up but on maintenance and keeping it in nic condition mechanical wise. It's a gem and runs fine for a 3L V6.

I won't be too fussed if I end up getting a few thousand dollars less but I absolutely do not want to go through the usual bullshit of putting up an ad for weeks and months aye. (Such a painful process, I am so over it now).

So now the agonising process of cleaning polishing and listing on TradeMe with all the details, wonder how long that would take me hopefully before the wof rego and insurance run out on it hehe.

I hear what your saying... I have also spent alot of $$ on maintenance on the subaru too, its a 2L Turbo n I havent used it since I got my work truck. As I dont pay for diesel, no point using the gas guzzler lol!! Did the cam belt n have replaced so much stuff on it!! my wof n rego has expired so taking it to mechanic for a last service/tune up/wof then chuck some rego on to flick it.

Let us know what you decide to do aye!! I'd be keen to see the outcome of the auctions if ya do do it!

One way to avoid having the car(s) for sale months on end..........list them with a realistic price And state clearly that the price is 100% firm but very fair & not to bother making silly offers. I recently put my bike up for sale & the first to ride it bought it because it was priced well. No real hassle. Im a big fan of $1 res from the sellers point of view. Ive sold 2nd hand things for more than the brand new price lol, makes ya laugh. I wouldn't put the GTO on $1 res but certainly the Toyota.
To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and to endure the betrayal of false friends. To appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded
