I loved his comment to her when she was screaming like a banshee - "I don't have a hearing problem". Those guys must have the patience of saints putting up with the crap they have to deal with on a daily basis.

I felt really sorry for the cat whose owner had been murdered.

we have i believe. I havent done it myself because I have never been the one to serve someone, but if there's just cause not to serve someone for something like that, we won't do it...

and i personally don't sell people shock collars, if they ask for one i point out the alternatives, if they still want to use shock, then i switch to another sales prof and walk the other way... I hate bloody shock collars...

Please recommend a way to stop my bosses dog from barking at people walking past the fence.

Ha ha! Loved reading the mis-informed, racist comments at the begining of this thread and how quickly it morphed into an 'everything that's wrong with Asians'. Unfortunately my KB 'Smiles' tab doesn't have a little graphic for toothless hill billies...

put it somewhere where he can't see them? use a citronella spray collar or lemon scented spray collar or an ultrasonic collar. those don't hurt the dog, just annoy him a little until he realises that barking at people makes annoying things happen. it's worked with a couple of my personal clients, though it does depend on the dog. If all else fails, behavioral specialists can do the trick in one or two sessions... how old is the dog? if it's young (a couple of months) then do the behavior thing first, if a year or older, then try other methods first.

A collar with a electric charge. Remote control unit for said collar. There is one that works on the sounds of the dogs barking too. I know you don't like them AJ but we went though everything with our dog...

She was wonderful. Haven't got another as I would just be disappointed.

they usually work on vibrations of the throat, not the actual sound or it would be going off all the time a loud enough noise was made and probably kill the dog by malfunctioning.

and yeah if there's no other way that will work i guess it's alright, are you still using it? if not, how long did you use it for, and if you are after a long time, it may be a good idea to have a look at the maintenance of the collar and keep it up to date, they can malfunction after a while and cause horrible burns to the dog or even death. (did a huge study on the things that took me about 1 and a half years to do, hence why i end up knowing a bit about these, and hence my reluctance to using them)

The dog is a three year old Caviler King Charles. The property is on a busy corner opposite a school, and the footpath runs the whole way around the fenced section, so the only way to stop the dog from barking at passers-by is by locking him in the garage, and that's not too kind.

The problem is that you can't. It's in the inherent nature of the animal - and some of it is as a reaction to what people are doing as they walk past.

Yeah, it doesn't help the situation eh. I've yelled at people to stop teasing the dog before. The dog barks, and then they go "woof woof" at the dog (idiots, but then again, a lot of kids walk past too), so I yell "If you don't like him barking at you, don't encourage him! Stop teasing him!"... but he is a little pain in the arse!
