Did the Akatarawa road the end of last year, it is sealed all the way but shit it is tight in places, especially when you are trying to dodge all the damned cyclists.

Geez I'd love to Deano, but Anzac Dawn Parade tomorrow morning and taking the young feller (Tim - 8) on the Ambulance Ride doesn't leave any space in my calendar.

    Have fun on your ride.
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

    .......................
I did it just after New Year... http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/bl...9500&entry=353 refers. I wouldn't recommend it as it's too tight and narrow and I was always worried about meeting an oncoming 4WD taking the whole road.

Crazy part is, the dickhead who compiled the Kiwi Motor Cycle atlas (supposedly the best 100 rides in the country) included the Akatarawa Road. He obviously just looked at a map and never rode it.
