Talking of which (not really, totally off topic in fact)...

    If you go
here and scroll down, you'll find a couple of clips featuring her sister ashley on SNL. Turns out through a stuff up she got caught out lip-syncing, and stormed off. In the interview clip she blames it all on her band.

Funniest thing I've seen since Milli stormed off stage, with Vanilli standing there like a stuned mullet...

Okay, so back you the Tamaki discussion (you guys need to get out more), that prick should be living in the same conditions that most of his congregation are - in poverty. How can you justify taking 30% in parishers take home pay (before tax)!!!
That guy needs to pull his head in. Saw him on Holmes several weeks ago, and he had no answers to the questions - only political bullshit!

If he was a true religious leader, he would put the money he earns into the community i.e. building homes for the homeless, giving money to the SPCA, kulling (not killing) the worthless smokers in my school, etc. etc.

I thought it was 10% not 30%? The Bible speaks of tithing and it being a tenth, somewhere near the end of the Old Testament - CK??

I don't really have an issue with tithing as such b/c I think it's kinda like a membership of a club, I do have an issue with a frenzied type of belief that if you are poor or if things are going wroing in your life it's b/c you're not believing hard enough, not just b/c sometimes life sucks.

    Tithing is a tenth.

I have an issue with it when your weekly DPB is $240 and Pastor Brian wants $24 of it. That will be bread and milk you can't buy for your kids.

Thing with tithing was, as CSL says, it was in the 'Old Testament'. Part of the Jewish law code.

See, it was just tax. The temple-centric Jewish society of the time, when that law code was set up, had no separate governmental body. The 'tithe', which was more or less a 10% income tax, supported the segment of the population (priests, et al) that formed the religious structure in their society instead of farming, carpentering, blacksmithing, etc.

Now, Jesus never talked about tithing. He told his disciples to pay tax to the secular (Roman, at the time) authorities, but that was the extent of it.

One also notes the letters of Paul in the NT talking about people giving to support their out of their desire, surplus, and however their heart moved them to. Nothing at all about tithing for Christians.

So someone like Mr Tamaki who prates on about Jesus this-and-that has no basis, other than his own ability to dazzle people with fallacies and Brylcreem, for sucking money at a fixed rate out of his 'parishioners'.

Totally agree Jim! Just failed to mention that in my posting.

I find it incredibly hypocritical that they blather on about not being under "The Law" of the old testament but, use it when it suits them.

You omitted overweight sexually inhibited balding mummy's boys. I am unsure whether or not to be offended...
