Whats the range ? And are they PTT, and if so, do the PTT buttons mount on the bars or where?

Button is attached to bars with a velcro strap.

The radios are from supercheap. I would say the better the radios the better the range. We used them as backups on the farm but I can't remember the range we got out of them.

unlikely you will get 2km even for hilltop-to-hilltop. On the road with trees and stuff around you, and the radios in your pockets - likely you will have to be within 100m and in direct line of sight or it will get scratchy real quick.

Best solution I think would be bone mics. I haven't tested this though.

$250 is too much for two little puny radios plus headsets IMO.

true but i doubt you could get them for this radio and the cost would be a killer.
good point about the low coverage when the radio is in you pocket, i forgot about that.

good luck with the sale Krusti

The radios may be worth something, but this Pinfolds stuff is under-engineered crap.

Hey Hitch! How'd you get on with your quest for intercomms? I was intending to get the Pinfolds set but am very glad I chose the Blueant's.

We are happily Blueanting around the countryside. One day soon, somebody will figure out how to get a walkie talkie Bluetoothed, and then le monde will be moi oyster!

Seriously though, that Pinfolds stuff is rubbish. Unfortunately magazine reviews don't test kit in operation for longer than a ride around the block.

    funny you should say that.
i have tested a pair of full duplex blue tooth headsets. they worked to a range of about 200m. you could also pair them to your blue tooth phone and make calls.

Skunk Control and I have a set. We have Uniden 42 radios and got 7kms line of sight more than once. Where and how you mount the radio as well as the radio itself have much to do with it. Didn't find them to be rubbish, but they didn't cost the earth either. Blueant is twice the price.
Pinfolds work OK up to 100kph windspeed depending on the helmet. Skunk Controls top-of-the-line Shoei is better the my cheap HJC...

We use them every time we remember them.

Well worth the money if you ride round wondering what the other is doing.

That is how the Blueant Interphone system works. Mrs H and I already use that system. The addition of a decent walkie talkie would greatly enhance the range.

Not if you buy the Blueants online for $179. And the $120 a kit that Pinfolds charge doesn't, from memory, include the cost of the walkie talkies.

The wind noise issues are exactly the same from Pinfolds to Blueant. And also, I suspect, to all helmet microphones subjected to wind being funneled past at high speed.

Before you judge someone, walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you judge them, you’re a mile away and you have their shoes.
