    Help or advice needed.

    Hi everyone.
    Recently I bought a 1997 GSX R600.

It is in pretty tidy condition with not too much letting it down.
However the digital odometer on it is stuck at 99,999.9 km!
The distance I'm not worried about, as the owner before me pretty much did only long distance highway riding from home to work (Pukekohe to Auckland five days a week for about five years, 80 km each way!). Also he had a very comprehensive record of receipts and maintenance too.

So does anyone know what to do about getting the odometer reset or whatever?? If so, how or who to to go to??

    any help/advice would be cool.
    Cheers

    Gidday Nick,
I don't know that they'll reset the odometer (its a distinct possibility) - most likely they'll just replace whatever diode/resistor has packed a sad...

The reason I suggested Allan Franklin is that he modified the speedo on a GS 1200 SS I owned sometime ago so that it would continue to read passed 180 kph (they used to stop there but the bike would keep accelerating...)

In the interim you could check all the pins in the plug on the back of the speedo assy for whats known as Dry Jointing - which is very basically a dull looking soldered joint where the terminal joins that particular wire which creates additional reisistance... Its easy to spot once you know what to look for - a good joint will have a reasonably shiney finish to it, the only way to fix the problem is to replace that terminal & re solder the connection...

I'd be interested to know how you get on with it...

    Cheers
