Pubs are good too - but sitting around a fire on the side of the lake singing Kumbaya might be nice.
OK, here's a solid proposal - Saturday 22 January 2005. Twelve Mile Delta. Meet at Famous Kelly's at Frankton at 2pm, ride to Glenorchy for a beer, back to the Delta.
I'll arrange a hammer for the tent pegs, a barbecque and if DoC will let us, a couple of braziers.
Bring yer own bbq food, tent, piss and bullshit - easy!

Sorry Manuboy but I'm not here for the weekend before, I've got no problem if you can get something together instead though.
    HondaV2 - a Milford trip sounds good.

Trouble is guys, - the ONLY weekend I have off in January is the weekend of the now ex-Glenorchy, can't get the suggested one off, no way

MAY be able to get the 29th -30th Jan off.

Anybody else want to do a ride/camp thing on the 8th-9th weekend??

And Toddy, the S.D. 'nads remain unscathed

SD you can allways camp out on your front lawn like when you was a kid, then if it rains you can always go inside... also the fridge is nice and handy too.

Original Weekend Rules. !2 Mile camp.

IDB's proposal but on the original weekend for all those who had planned ahead.
Meet Famous Kelly's Frankton Village diagonally opposite the BP, 2PM Sat 8th Jan.
On to GY, back to 12 Mile camp with coldies from GY Pub. BYO tent, BBQ supplies. ( toilets only at the 12 Mile )
Somebody local will volunteer a BBQ, (probably a fire ban on at the 12mile if summer kicks in) It can go on the back with me.
I'll post a new thread for folks to RSVP, "Replacement Glenorchy Rally"

Alternative GY rally is ON, same dates

Nope, the Gy rally is ON, just no organisation to speak of. Need a local volunter to supply BBQ for 12mile campsite or I'll have to go out and buy one. See earlier post and new thread.

I'm on a 10 acre block just out of Alexandra. The grass is a bit long, but anyone wants to camp that weekend its fine by me. There is a closed fire season, so that means no campfires. Almost anything else is fine.

Message me if there is any interest.

I reckon it may be a good idea and I COULD be a starter along with Mrs S.D. having said that I hinted to zooter that we have a Friday night sesh at their place so if they give the 'thumbs-up' I guess we'll go there.
If not then we could spend Friday night at your 10 acres of long grass if it's o.k.

This is probably a silly question... but does anyone know why the organisers of the GY rally have not considered using the 12mile site for the rally... is it perhaps not available or possibly just not available to a large organised rally (maybe DOC not happy with several hundred bikes on their land)
But anyway, if there is something planned at this site (or for that matter, anywhere else in the vicinity) then there's at least two of us here who you can count in.

ummm.... cos the remarkables rally was always held there and it was canned IIRC cos they had strippers there and as it was a public place it kinda screwed it for them........ damn good strippers they were the boys up the frount kinda got 'real' close if ya know what I mean.

ahhh... the politically correct brigade strikes again... ruin all our fun they do, next they'll be trying to stop the wet-t competitions (like they have a chance of ever doing that LOL)
I can't remember any of the 'public' being there when the rally was on... several thousand bikers always seemed to scare them off so not sure what the problem was with there being strippers there.
Has any date actually been decided upon yet... reading back through the messages I see at least three dates mentioned so far. For us, the original GY rally date works best.

Me & Mrs S.D. are also going to go there on the original GY rally date so that makes 4 of us going, any advance on 4?
