i got out of hospital at 11pm with a popped AC joint and 3 broken ribs.
thanks to all who helped and kept me warm and comfortable and to the organisers for a ripper day.
i feel like the north end of a south bound cow at the moment and can only lie in one position , arm in a sling so one side feels like one of those thalidomide arms!
might have to miss the cold duck!!!!

No fun having an off mate, heal quickly!
4skins commented on how the bike he lent you was going to have a spend a night out in the cold, poor bike!
Must get out and clean my bike now before the rain comes.
Cheers

I was too busy trying to get to the end to take many photos, but my meagre offerings are attached.
No, but good to hear that we're all at least alive and kicking. That's an impressive array of injuries though -- must have been trying! No fun having an off mate, heal quickly!
Just done mine. I had half up Upper Hutt wedged in there.Must get out and clean my bike now before the rain comes.
Great pics thanks guys. . I didnt take my camera since it was the first time Ive done this event I wanted to concentrate on the riding. (plus I knew Merv can always be relied on to get a few good snaps - cheers mate!)
What an awesome day out. Great weather, great riding, and really good to meet some of the out-of-town KBers and a few others as well.
Well done to John and co for putting the event together.
Jellywrestler - glad you're ok - you weren't looking too happy when I spoke to ya when you were having your wee lie down!
Experience......something you get just after you needed it
Excellent day out, the 990 continues to surprise me on just how well it handles the conditions. So superiour to my previous F650 its hard to believe.
Previous comment about "Its either mud or tyre shredding rock" isn't far off the mark. Brand new TKC's on the weekend before the ride. The backs looking a bit sorry for its self now.....the Hydro road has a lot to answer for LOL!.
I'm saying nothing.
It did fine. The solution seems to be to stop feathering the clutch at the bottom of second -- just lean the bike over a bit more and gas it a bit.Your clutch survived alright too then?
I was bloody glad I took advice and fitted rimlocks, and those D605s are worlds better than the stock Trailwings I took off. I saw one guy come through after the first muddy bit in the morning on a DR200 running stock TWs and no rimlocks. At that point I was thinking "I could have done this on my old tyres no problem." But that clay climb after lunch, up Cleaver's Road or whatever? Jesus, I'd have been digging the bike out. I wonder how he did?
I really had a blast. By about the half way through the Hydro Road I was feeling it, though, and I'm aching this morning.
I might get out and hit that Hydro Road again in a couple of weeks...
Well my bikes are cleaned and put away in the garage and now the rain starts a day later than they said on the Friday forecast so the gods did smile on us for the CCA. Hope most of you are home now without getting wet.
p.s. where was that legend Big Dave?
Cheers

Great event 4Skins - $100 entry well worth to gain access to some great trails - thanks to you and your team for putting on a great event (again).
Merv - thanks for your company (Alex, BusaBil, Recycled, Gerard van B and Tony F650) also. Special thanks to those who helped me wrestle my little DR back up the bank in the section immediately after lunch (Dry Creek Quarry) where I got too close to the edge in a corner and had the back wheel step down a bank - duh.
cheers Aslan
PS will attempt to post pics when I figure out how to reduce them to the required size.
Great photos Merv - I can see what to expect next year. Is there any way to see these photos in thumbnail first does anybody know? My broadband is slow at the mo - must be the rain..
Don't they just come up as thumbnail on the page anyway and then you won't see them full size until you click on them.
4skins says the next CCA will be in 2010 so don't expect one next year. Last one was 2006 and the photos of that one were on this thread http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...ad.php?t=27185
Yeah good riding with you too.
Just use Microsoft Office Picture Manager if you have Office loaded and edit them - go down to 1024x768 is pretty good - don't go smaller they look a bit puny on my screen below that.
Cheers
Merv
