Man, what a great day. My first serious off road event on the KLR and I was very pleased with the event and the bike.
Many, many thanks to John and his team for the superb organisation.

Pic 1 & 2 -waiting at Plimmerton school before the off.

I, like quite a few others, had a spot of bother with instruction 27 - turn left up a gravel track 50 meters past the bridge. Going on up this track led to a paddock with a number of possible exits - none of which matched the route sheet. Pic 3 shows some of the queue waiting to climb a fairly snotty track. However the consesus was "this ain't right" so we turned around, went further along Karori Sth road and found the correct bridge, with the turn as described, 50 m on up the road.

Pic 4, Al, Frank and the bikes at the beginning to Battle Hill

pic 5, Belmont, looking towards Mana, Porirua to the left

As to the question of reducing pic size, there are many ways but the best I have found is to use IrfanView (free download). Ctrl +R brings up the image size edit dialog. Saving as 800 x 600 will reduce a 1.5m image to 120k

No, thats the other green '08. There was also one red '08. Only three in total, but thats all right, we KLRistas enjoy our exclusive rides. If we wanted something common, we would have bought something Austrian :-)

Mainly because I don't own a suitable bike and I'm over borrowing them.
Turns out I had another assignment too.

    thanks boys

thanks for the day to the crew and to the runners who helped all over ... punting my 1200 through all the challenges was tougher than i expected... my aching muscles prove it ... special to gerard (gerald) (not sure now) ... sucked into a killer in the morning and deep off hydro in the afternoon we felt every kilo ... and merv at dinner ... even if i was late enough to be on vegetarian rations... a double of pudding and i was over it..thank you all .. and john ..... just thanks

Mate the vege rations might make you fitter for next time and you know I wouldn't have minded that much pavlova either.

p.s. welcome as a KB poster making your first post above.

Plug's happy 'cause he's just finished a ride (in one piece) and has 2 beers on the way.
TransAlper's happy 'cause he's just finished a ride and it looks like he's got video as well as audio of it all

PS. I still want to know what Altimarloch in the snow sounds like.

    Awesome ride!

Thanks VERY much John and crew! Top stuff!

Second time wife has been on the back, last time was a couple of hours on the seal on the F650 Classic. First ever adventure run, and she loved it! Did all challenge sections except took the easy option @ 164 and missed the Hydro section.

Only once into the scrub to pull it up quick, But still on the wheels!

Will sort and post some photos tomorrow!

Hope those that are recovering well.....

Great to put yet more faces to names!

Preview. Crop and/or save as and pick the compression.
    That's the easy answer.
Other way is to Export them from iPhoto and pick a size.

Photographering a Cross Country last weekend and racing at a Classic MX next weekend.

I hope to be up to the next CCA though.
