Capital Coast Adventure Ride 26 April 2008. Photos here

OK what a turn out today and the weather held just great, the threat of rain had disappeared by the time this mornings forecast came. Full credit to 4skins as organiser it was a great event.

So off we went to Plimmerton School to start the adventure ride. A few KBers turned up even some of the regular South Island posters to this forum such as Transalper, PLUG, cooneyr and warewolf.

I was riding with Aslan and Bulabil and later with Re-cycled. We saw quite a bit of Busajim and marks too. Oscar was there and so was car, clint640 and Rosie, Qkkid and Qkchk and probably too many others to remember but they can come forward eh!

Now I'm not going to try and name names on the photos because many are not people I know from the forum. Sadly my good camera is still in the shop for repair and my waterproof jobbie just isn't as sharp, but here we go.

Any others that took pics please post them on this thread too.

You know, for the first time on the CCA we never went to Parliament. 4skins is that a snub to the Government or something?

There are only two kinds of off-road surfaces in Wellington - the hard broken rock so sharp it takes the edges off your tyres, and then (when its wet) the greasy clay that needs the edges on your tyres.

The bad news story for me was my brother ending up in hospital on Wednesday and not being able to get to the ride after paying his hard earned entry fee.

That's a nice leg out in the second shot!

In this set of pics you'll see a Castrol 6 hour winner, Aslan, Sels1 (or is that Sels2 seeing he is on his second bike?), Bulabil and then famous people waiting for lunch such as Oscar (oh and Grant Dalton).

Just do it then. These are only with my baby waterproof camera.

Then it was off after lunch to the first challenge section up the Dry Creek loop at Belmont - it was bit slipperier than 2 years ago but I didn't stop to take photos of that bit - did anyone?

Note: the CB250 does make a good adventure bike.

While I waited I started thinking they had bypassed the loop - so took off after the pack, eventually dropping back to find them again - no they had not gone ahead.

The clay in the Akatarawas was just so slippery and those stream crossings are always fun eh! Busajim is a legend so he always makes it look easy.

Then we went through Puketiro (bit dark for pics in the forest), Battle Hill and back to Belmont Park onto Takapu road with nice views of the Pautahanui inlet and the West Coast towards Plimmerton - is Porirua a nice city or what? Nah you couldn't quite see my house.

Yeah goes well with him on it too!

In the Belmont park one rider had fallen and the Pajero ambulance had just got there to deal with him but they let us through. I hear the helicopter arrived later to lift him out. Hope all is OK.

Then my last couple of shots at the dinner afterwards. Aren't they a couple of happy looking South Islanders in that last pic?

There you go cooneyr, you told me I had 12 hours to load these, but the dinner finished reasonably early so I was able to do these as soon as I got home, mind you I don't seem to have any pics of you do I?

OK so who else has a few photos to add?

Hope that rain holds off too because I'd like to clean my bike tomorrow.
