You know what stuff is worth, you know how much you should pay for something, what a reasonable discount is, and you should know the quality of what you are buying.
When it comes to cold wet weather, and sliding down the road, and gear lasting for years, cheap stuff doesn't perform, and is of no value after the purchase.

    To be blatantly honest

Cheap stuff is still good. Very rarely do i find that its quality that the cheap products fail in these days.
However you do get what you pay for, if not it quality, in comfort and use.
I had a $150 motoline jacket, which lasted me living (almost literally) in it for 5 years. Infact it went to free to another KB member who continues to use it.
However i now own a fantastic Teknic one, cost me a bit more that I'm used to paying for cordura ($400) but it FEELS fantastic. Likewise i have to replace the shoei, i'm probably going to get another shoei. Not because it will last longer than the $200 helmet i have on the shelf, but because it FEELS better.

Totally agree avgas, there is nothing like good gear, I have shoei, teknic and spidi, totally dependable gear with thoughtful design, had the learning curve when i was younger.
There is also buying quality, but not spending enough in specification.

With regards to quality. Two weeks ago I had a customer that purchased a jacket off me. He told me that he has worn Quasievil apparel for years and that from now on he will buy off 1Tonne as the value for money is excellant and he thought the quality is just as good as yours.
This, I believe is why you are being so petty. It's because you are slowly loosing your market. Why don't you bring your prices down instead of having a 300-400% mark up. Then people would feel that they are getting value. Please do not try to bring my business down as this is not good for your business or mine. Please build your business up by using advertising, not by slagging off others.
i must say i kinda agree with what youre saying, i dont know if your gears good or not, how it compares to quasis, but how did my thread become a advertisement?

Quasi gear, or gear from an actual shop for me. (For the gear that I can't get from Quasi).... Will not accept knock off's from trademe, or any other shop online.

In everything else that we do in life. You get what you pay for. Love the gear from Quasi, love the service, (which is yet to be beaten).....

I personally think the two traders concerned would be better erasing their posts on this thread. Both doing themselves no favors.

Have met both the Quasis',nice affable duo,who do have the best interests for riders, and go out of their way to enable the customer to choose goods.

As for 1 Tonne have contacted them and had quick replies to texts and emails.Their gear seems good looking at it via online, the proof is when time to buy at least I can try it on,then make up my mind.

There is no difference between many trademe suppliers as most run the business from home.Yep you can go into a retail outlet and buy name gear and expect to pay the premium, afterall the shop(usually bike outlet)has it's overheads.

I don't go into a bike shop and try on the gear for sizing and buy elsewhere, which no doubt others do and buy online, either here or usa. When I did buy my gear I went to a shop, but got a decent discount for my purchases,at the time I had neither heard of quasi or 1 tonne, had I known that I may well have bought from them. The salesguy where I bought my gear was informative so helped me decide, that is his job.

As an aside how many people get tricked into buying bicast leather thinking it is high grade because it says leather.Yep it is leather but has manmade additives to it in laymans speak,to give it guts, usually used in chairs, but could find its way into pants etc.

    My tuppenths worth.
Im coming from nearly thirty years of bike riding/racing.
ANY gear thats going to offer protection in a crash is better than nothing.
But Quasi does make a very good point. Some bike gear really is total crap
It literally will not offer fuck all protection in a crash because the seams will (and have) explode or you will grind through the paper thin leather in the high impact/contact areas in a fraction of a second.
Its kinda like buying a spanner at the warehouse.

Yep they will do the same job, just one might sound better than the other, and if it breaks you throw it away.My stereo is a Sharpe and was born in 1983,still going strong best part is it is component type, only added a Kenwood cd stacker.
As for bike gear yep cheap will be fine until you crash, then you wish you had the Nad version rather than Transonic, although the Phillips or Sony might be close behind the Nad.It's finding the quality at reasonable price that is difficult.
Had this ready to post then had a power cut,2nd one today, and 2nd within 2 days and only less than an hour between them, computer gotta like that shut down.
