    THE IDEA:
Anzac Day is on 25/04/08 which means a long weekend, therefore the idea is to do a three day tour to the East Cape - some of the best roads for motorcycts.Leaving friday Morning from Auckland, and coming back to auckland on sunday night. This tour is aimed mainly at people riding 250cc bikes. People riding larger motorcycles are more than welcome to attend but bear in mind that the main group speed is going to be 100 - 110k, so you may get bored. Everyone is wellcome to ride the speed they are comfourtable with, but to attend this event you must be comfourtable with open road riding.

    THE PLAN:

    Day 1:
Meeting at BP Autobahn in Papakura Auckland at 7:30 am - 25/04/08
    Leaving 8:00am SHARP.
Proceeding to doing the Coro loop.
Having lunch at coroglen tavern and going to Whakatane for a night sleep.

    Day 2:
Leaving Whakatane by 8:30 (breakfast from 8 - 8:30) and proceeding to riding around the East Cape and coming back to Whakatane for a Night sleep.

    Day 3:
Leaving Whakatane 8:30 ( breakfast 8:00 - 8:30) and proceeding to do a reverse Coro Loop and going back to Auckland.

    DETAILS:

Responsible Behaviour on the road is expected from all riders attending the tour.
High Visibility Vests are encouraged but not compulsory.
Approved Motorcycle gear is Highly desirable and encouraged. Please do not come to the event wearing plain jeans and plain jeans jacket with no protection at all. At least wear kevlar jeans. I DON'T WANT to pick up bones and skin from the road should someone fall of their bike.
Event is weather permitting, which means that the tour will be canceled only if heavy rain warnings are at place. Light showers will not affect us.
Fuel Stops will be about every 100 - 150km to accomodate for people with small range fuel tanks.
TEC will be decided on the day.

If you are going to attend the WHOLE 3 DAY event, please register your attendance on the calender event AS THIS WILL BE USED TO BOOK ACCOMODATION http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/ca...&day=2008-4-25

    Holy crap..

I just looked at the map at that Gisbourne loop and I am literally drooling..

That thing looks amazing! I reckon it'll take alot longer than google's predicted 7 hours though... Coro loop took us like 6 or 7 hours and it's tiny compared to that thing.

I envy the folk that live in Gisbourne... I can't wait!

Will check if I'm allowed out after the trackday this friday (and burning all my brownie points).

Long days for my knees on the CBR but then rest stops every 150km while people gas up might make it survivable. Been wanting to do Coro and East cape for soooo long so doing both would kick total arse.

The Old Man's suggestions (typed himself):

Day 2 is a long day and is the main reason for the journey. This day can be shortened by about 100km by staying in Opotiki instead of Whakatane - obviously depends on accommodation, but this should not be a problem. If some think this makes day 1 too long (+ 50km) consider dropping or shortening the Corro loop - you can do that on any one day trip.

Vary the route on the way back. Why not do SH34 to Lake Rotorua then around the north side to Tauranga Direct road (SH36), over Kaimais on SH29 Te Aroha Gordon road to Paeroa (see the big ass bottle), through the Karangahake Gorge to Whangamata, then back over Kopu Hikuai hill and home - via Miranda is 467 km (from Opotiki).

Can you please take very good note on how far the gas stations are? I want to do it at some stage, but i only have a 150km range on my bike - i think there are places in the east cape that are futher than that?
Then I could get a Kb Tshirt, move to Timaru and become a full time crossdressing faggot
