Had a great ride.... Loose Bruce, Milky, PT, Velox, Mattt, Dveus and Zapf turned up... Went through Hunua and then onto Miranda followed by a gas stop at Kopu. Mattt turned back early for a holiday, and Milky turned back because it started to rain (shagged rear tyre).... Bruce was putting on a good pace (whats new...) At Kopu a bunch of teenagers jumped out of their car as it started smoking.... Then flames started licking out of the bonnet... Bruce and I ran to look for a fire extinguisher... found one... I ran out o direct traffic where Bruce went to check on the car... by this time the flames had been subdued and we pushed the car off the road, where myself another guy resumed dousing the flames with the fire extinguisher... That ran out, but the teenagers had grabbed all their gear upon where the car burst into flames again.... Everyone helped clear the gear away and people too.. Well done to the Volly Fire Brigade as the made really good time from Thames..... Its never a KB ride without some excitement.....

So anyway back to riding... Went to Whangamata (Bruce and I went to and fro a bit..) Then off to Waihi ( it was all wet ) Down the gorge to Paeroa and then Back to Kopu... Velox and Bruce swapped bikes and everyone had a great time riding to Kawakawa Bay....

Great riding from everyone.. And great not too have any bins.... Sorry i couldnt turn on the dry roads for the whole ride....

Cant wait for the next one

    Today

T'was a good enough ride all in all. Me not being one to do 180 in a straight line meant that I was tail end charlie for most of the ride, but hanging back from Zapf and PT allowed me to work on late apexing and thinking about my positioning on the bike through right and left hand corners, without the distraction of another biker up ahead and the temptation to blindly follow what they were doing.

The fire was an interesting experience... Looked like that group of teens would be hitching rides home from there. In typical fashion, the fire service was there in a few minutes, but it wasnt until we had gone a fair way up on SH25 that ms 'johnny-come-lately' from the local constabulary shot past down the hill...

I headed back through hunua and got caught behind some traffic on the way down, so stopped, went back up and had an un-interrupted run up and down again. I likes that bit of road :love2: I was getting a bit bored with motorway riding up SH20 to home, so I decided to head back through the airport and the back of Mangere Bridge.
Was slowly making my way through the airport when this madman in a big yellow four wheel drive proceeded to arrest me for god knows what. I was detained (against my will) for a good few hours in some dingy shed next to the runway, and subjected to the tortuous sounds of jumbos taking off just metres away...
It took all the skill I could muster, but I escaped eventually.

Fuck you a photo of me on Velox's bike was interesting to ride, at least the TL looks good with Velox on it instead of me. Get your six hundy soon Velox

Was a pretty good ride thou, more than a few wet areas, one in particular that caught me and TS out in a "the back end went that away" moment. Had a good run to kopu, the car was pretty funny, the servo sold outta marshmellows but all in all good that no one was hurt, poor laydee's what a way to start ya holiday, twas pretty wet over to hikuai, had a awesome run over to whangamata, while the otheres ate, me and TS had another go at it, but it was cut short by the rain chasing us, was wet all the way to waihi and paeroa, but had dryed up by the time we made our way up the coast to kawakawa bay (i think) that twisty hill section just before the bay is insane.

I had heaps of fun but i'm sore as now, but the weekend is coming and cause i'm a loser that will work it and not be getting pissed off my nut i shall ride instead.

Hope Velox enjoyed the ride up here in Aucks and the roads up here, have a safe trip back south.

And a Happy new year thingee to every one else

Yeah the fluid is such so that it doesnt leak out the possibly dodgy cover. Still works though.. pads are fine.

shame about the weather, at least it wasn't half as bad as our last attempt.

bigger shame about having to be on call, but it turned out there were a few things to do.

hopefully the weather will have settled by the time I get back from Whangas.

I neeeeed to go on a riiiiiide...

Watch it mate - you're just lucky it didn't throw you off!

Yeah - awesome ride, definitely beats the Takas. Apart from the "phantom cows", exploding cars, and slippery roads. Thanks guys for coming out for a hoon and cheers you three lads that showed me how to get there and back! Those roads must be even more amazing when they're dry and without all that traffick!!! Gotta do that one again! I saw in the paper today that a lady died and a couple of others were badly injured in a crash on the road between Kopu and the eastern coast at about 1pm which must've been just after we went through. Not good.

Good to meet a couple of you guys that I didn't know - Dveus and Mattt (sorry - didn't realise you were going, thought you were saying bye to the guy on the R1).

Got to ride back tomorrow morn in what looks like will be torrential rain, which won't be so fun. Stink.
