Tires for my HYOSUNG GT250R - Recommendations Please...

Hey everyone. Its going to be time to put new tyres on the Hyo and replace the standard shinko tyres due to wear.

Putting new shinkos is not an option.

I have been to Cycletreads today and they recommended Dunlop GPR100 and said that it will last at least 10 000k, its a single compund tyre and will be good in all weather. A set of Dunlop GPR100 is going to cost me $450.

They also offered me a Dual compound set of tyres (harder in the midle and softer, more sticky on the sides) and said that that would also be nice but likely to get 8000 - 10 000k Max out of it. Dont know the name. The price for those dual compound tyres is $550 per set.

    My front tyre specs: 110/70/17

    My back tyre specs: 150/70/17

Can you please advise me if you have any experience with the things I had been recommended from Cycletreads or if you have put another type of tyre? Are those prices expensive for a set of tyres of that kind and size?
What tyres have you replaced the standard shinkos with, and how do you find them?
Is there a better place than Cycletreads that does tires in the auckland area?

Any advice and recommendation are much appreciated.

Those GPR100's are FANTASTIC tyres. I went from some IRC shit things to the GPR 100's and I could not believe how different the bike felt. I am getting all nostalgic just thinking of it. They are worth every cent.

GPR100's. Recommended by Motorcycle Surgery on a ZXR250 as the best. I have Pirelli Sport Demons on my SRX400 and they are great, especially in the wet.

I've recently replaced my shinkos after 19500ks. I now have Michelin PilotRoad2. They seem to be alright, but won't last nearly as long as the shinkos did.
While you sit there liking things just cos' everyone else does, I'll be standing up here keeping it real.

Tell us how they work out

Im going to get some new tires for winter. I want something a lot stickier than the shinkos over winter and dont care if they only last the winter. Ill throw the shinkos back on when I sell up!
