"electronics are potentially important for road riders, but, to me, it is hurting the sport. I equate TC to spell-check. It is very handy for anyone writing, but it should not be allowed as an aid to participants in a spelling bee."

Do you lot agree with this position? i.e. that even though for the rest of us i.e. non-professional riders / track dayers / racers TC (and anti-lock) is desirable but as for professionals they are paid (truck-loads) to provide a spectacle and to hell with such safety nets.
I've always thought it a contrived situation to force lower technology on to a premier racing class but maybe this is an equally valid position? It seem the racers are willing to turn back the clock.

    Yes, personally I do.

I see your point but there is not much point in all this technology if any old geezer can get on a Moto GP and rip out a good lap time.
Look at F1, this year after the ban on traction control it already far more interesting and it's a great pity it did'nt happen earlier. I hope it gets better still next year when they impose aero restrictions.
I understand it does seem to fly in the face of what is supposed to be the pinnacle of their respective sports but what's the point in all that tech if it's boring as..

I'm with you 100%! Use Superbikes to develop such technology...it'll still filter down to street bikes. Then...when (if) the Superbike boys are ready for the big time...they'd better be good!

    From Cycle News:

Dani Pedrosa has withdrawn from the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, effectively killing his MotoGP World Championship hopes.
It's OK to disagree with me. I can't force you to be right.

A shame...but with Stoner now on top of things with his Ducati...doubt he was gonna win the championship anyway!

I see Rossi has signed with Yamaha for another two years.

(hope I can say more for Monday !)

I did alot of reading yesterday (crap weather in Kapiti) but still don't come up with a better rider senario. What I have is the Duc still has superior speed, 6 or 7 k's Rossi reckons! But he said his bike is great to ride and has very good corner speed and side grip in the fast stuff and that he is closer this year in bike speed.
Pedrosa out, did read he was worse than first thought...... Gaz.

ps We're all just guessing and wishing tho aren't we ?

Hah...knew you'd be loitering round here sooner or later!

Mate...Stoner is once again considerably faster than Rossi...Laguna has NOTHING to do with top speed or HP.

Baring a fuck up...this race is Stoners.

I think the era of Rossi being the fastest rider in the world ended in 05, since then 2 australians have held that mantle - Bayliss in 06 and Stoner since.
Vale is still the smoothest, smartest, best one on one, best passer etc. just not the fastest. That said these are the qualities that have won many championships, and if one of those Stoner practice crashes breaks something, he'll win this one too.

Until '06' I would've agreed with you. But when it came down to the wire between him and Hayden at the end of '06' and he binned it...I then thought he was human.

I think everyone else realized that too, and his air of invincibility went down with his bike.

I've said this before...but his championships were all won well before the last round, yet when he had to do or die he crumbled. Sounds like I'm a Rossi basher, but far from it. I'm one of his greatest admirers. He surely is one of the best we've seen...but head to head...like it's gonna be between him and Stoner...I back 'Aussie mongrel' over 'Italian flair'.

There's been so many Stoner bashers...but hey, the guy is the ultimate 'Baby faced assassin'!

Like Doohan, he goes out in every session with the purpose of breaking everyone else mentally. No single lap is wasted. I mean FFS...how many laps at Laguna did it take him to waste the lap record this weekend? 5? 10?

You've raced at a high level...you know how mentally challenging it is when the guys you're racing are faster than you in practice!

Stoner is fucking these guys in the head...then busting their balls on race day.

I'm glad I'm here to witness it. Respect!!!!
