My opinion is also - "I can see both sides - but overall I dont mind the idea" and it will be great if it has the same result as the WSBK controlled tyre format.

But FFS where does it end. I don't follow F1, but apparently they are looking at a control engine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep , - can see that side of it for sure & its a tough one, I do like the idea of no special qualifying tyres also, as these have no resemblence to actual achievable lap times. And the top teams get to pick the "special ones".

RE TC, I would be surprised if traction control can be totally elimnated now any way, - as it is so entwined into the operation of the machine in so many different ways.

I think Nicky likes his new ride - it looks like it is as loose as a flat tracker, and the wobbles and weaves aren't going to bother him, just like they don't bother Casey.
Altho' Elias had a couple of good results, for most of the season, the guys who couldn't get on with it were Euros used to 125/250 lines and handling, or Honda precision, and obviously were pretty intimidated by the way the Duc would have to be almost steered with the back rather then the front.
I love that Ducati welcomed him with a stars and stripes colour scheme - very classy of them. I think he'll fit.

    Cheers

Very cool, thanks for that!!! I guess the TC is part of it, but not the only part.
I hardly think he was likely to say 'ferrkk, I can't ride this thing' the first time he gets on it, but I really believe he's one of those blokes who starts out knowing it's got two wheels and an engine, and rides with his balls as much as his head. Rossi is known for getting the most out of whatever he manages to get his setup to be, and I think there are a couple of others, Nicky being one, and looks like Dovi being another.

    Cheers

Indeed! Even the Ducati people are impressed with his first attempts:

"He certainly is very brave," Preziosi told Italian newspaper Gazetta dello Sport. "With the telemetry you can see that in certain situations the bike wobbles in a scary way, even more than with [Casey] Stoner, but he doesn't get off the gas.

I'm looking forward to the next season!

See where you're coming from now mate. Not a very mature analysis though and hard to take you seriously.
Jeez lighten up, also the giest of the post was the traction control systems are too advanced, I reckon a lot of different results would occur if it was disallowed, It also hasn't escaped my attention that Yamaha & Honda also are now known to be using track geometry data for there t.c sys. So I must of been slagging all those riders huh.

Ummm, don't know what that's got to do with anything?? Are you a politician?

I quoted you verbatim saying "Rossi is king, long live the king. Stoner sucks.". I'm sorry but that is the most non-credible put-down of Stoner I've ever heard and I've heard some.
Some riders will be more talented than others in observer's opinions and they're entitled to their opinions - even if they're wrong, like Gaz, lol.
But to say that ANY one of those riders "sucks" is inane. Specially Stoner, who has been the ONLY one to date who has put the Ducati up there.

So I repeat: Not a very mature analysis and hard to take you seriously!

    They can certainly all ride.

Rossi may be the greatest ever and one of the measures of that is his ability to win on different marques and in different classes. I would dearly love to see Vale on a Ducati, but I think time is running out. However I am of the opinion that as far as World Champions go, the jury is still out on Stoner. He is undoubtedly one of the top three in the world now, but how will history see him?

We've had "one off" Champs before, guys who grabbed the opportunity when it arose. The likes of Schwantz and Uncini, guys who were the best for a fleeting point in time and could never repeat it.

Stoner? I think he'll be back, but one worrying aspect was his apparent mental fragility. Rossi got in his head, and there was no way back - still, he's young...

Anyone who can even GET a ride in MotoGP has to be a shit hot rider, NO question, but Rossi is something else - 125,250 and 500 world champ then MotoGP but thats not all...

Rossi made history by moving to Yamaha in 2004 and winning the season-opening Grand Prix in South Africa, becoming the first rider in the history of the sport to win back-to-back premier class races for different manufacturers. He went on to win nine out of 16 races, finally clinching the world championship title, Yamaha's first for 12 years, with victory at the penultimate grand prix in Phillip Island. A final win at the Valencia Grand Prix also ensured that the Yamaha Factory Team won the team title.
I know Rossi took Jeremy Burgess with him from Honda but FARK Yamaha had not won a title for 12 YEARS !!!

Plus he is a sponsors dream, always seems witty and charming, I am sure someone can come up with an example of him being petulant or sulking - but I can't.

    He will become a legend

Kevin Schwantz is living proof of the adage "To finish first, first you must finish".
