It was interesting & pretty much controlled throughout...........
Someone care to say how it went? I was going to watch it yesterday but nobody I knew with sky was keen for me to go over there at 5am this morning and crank their tv up... Funny that...
Nice close up of a bike.
Make sure you zoom in on it
The cockpit
You can tell the conversation went something like this back at Ducati.
engineer 1: "I've been thinking about how we should build the new frame."
engineer 2: "Frame? Why do we need one of those. Just bolt the swing-arm to the engine."
engineer 1: "Oooooooooook. But how to we attached the forks?"
engineer 2: "Aaahh see son what we'll do is... bolt the forks to the airbox then bolt the airbox to the engine. Done!"
Probably more like this:
Sto pensando a come dovremmo sviluppare la nuova struttura.Fatto.
Struttura? Perché abbiamo bisogno di una struttura? Serri appena il oscillare-braccio al motore.
Approvazione. Ma come attacchiamo le forcelle?
Vedi che il mio ragazzo che cosa faremo è questo. Serri le forcelle al airbox allora serrano il airbox al motore. Fatto!
It's OK to disagree with me. I can't force you to be right.
"...New Zealanders, for all their faults, have virtues that are precious: an unwillingness to be intimidated by the new, the formidable, or class systems; trust in situations where there would otherwise be none; compassion for the underdog; a sense of responsibility for people in difficulty; not undertaking to do something without seeing it through - "

Dani Pedrosa - Fastest Man in MotoGP
http://www.motogp.com/en/news/2009/P...record+mugelloAlthough Dani Pedrosa didn’t have the best weekend in Mugello, he did win the title of the fastest man to ever ride a MotoGP bike. The Jockey sized Spainard was clocked in the speed trap at a phenomenal 217.03mph, shattering the previous record set by Makoto Tamada by 4mph.
Tamada, while also on a Honda, set his time on the 990cc variant of MotoGP bike, while at the Shanghai circuit in 2006. With the 800cc machines originally thought to be down on power when compared to their predacessors, we have seen them breaking lap records all over the series, and now they can claim the top speed honor as well.
Part of the success of the 800cc bikes is that while making less power, they deliver it in a much more usuable fashion, thus allowing for greater overall speed. This top speed record is a bit astonishing though, when you consider that pure straight line speed is usually a matter of sheer horsepower and aerodynamics.
Because of this we presume, there had initially been doubt over the accuracy of the speed measurement, but Pedrosa’s achievement was quickly confirmed ahead of the MotoGP race.
Before this past weekend, the fastest top speed at Mugello was 213.11mph, recorded by Alex Barros in 2004.
Brembo Analytics Show Best Braker at Mugello GP
http://www.omnimoto.it/magazine/3072...ex-stacca-dopoWell, he clever folk at Brembo did some analytic interpretations from the data-logging the teams used at Mugello, and have figured out who the best brakers were at the Italian circuit this weekend. Results after the jump.
According to Brembo, in the final braking phase of the straight that takes you to the San Donato curve, the maximum speed of rider and bike goes from just under 200mph to around 65mph, all in a matter of 6.4 seconds or 1100 feet. The stress on the brakes from this change in speed will cause the carbon fiber discs to reach temperatures of about 1000° F, as if the situation wasn’t hot enough (a-oh!).
Brembo collected all the telemetry data from the teams after the official practices, and have come up with this following list of who is the best on the brakes at Mugello.
Top Ten Brakers at the San Donato Curve 2009:
1° Loris Capirossi (Rizla Suzuki)
2° Valentino Rossi (Fiat Yamaha Team)
3° Casey Stoner (Ducati Marlboro Team)
3° Jorge Lorenzo (Fiat Yamaha Team)
5° Andrea Dovizioso (Repsol Honda)
6° Chris Vermeulen (Rizla Suzuki)
7° Randy De Puniet (LCR Honda)
8° Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda)
9° Colin Edwards (Monster Yamaha Tech 3)
10° Marco Melandri (Hayate Racing Team)
