Thats for sure they are sooo good won't even leave the garage with a strange rider Sorry about that Gary, couldn't help teasing. Huge thanks for swapping a blatt on the blue beast for a sunny sojourn on Sk1py. Think she did pretty darn well for a Honda, two up with luggage : all the way from Roturua. Few more mm off the stand and exhaust bolts but SK1PY two up was always a scraping experience and you were leaning her over more than I ever do down thro desert road.

Wanted to go to the gumboot place for ages, must go again, most fun was watching you tackle that huge burger

Promise to find a valid excuse for you to get the ride on the beast asap
Was a bit gutted that the patriot got it's first airing on the Honda but a great ride nevertheless. Maybe the sweet smell of karma in the helmet was responsible for the silly grin on my face half the time. I wonder, perhaps it wasn't an accident after all, must speak to bruv about that

Just about to enjoy K valley road myself and go to anza for more shopping :

I thought something was amiss on sunday (thanks for the text Mo) .. just glad to see you could tell us about it in person even if you was in the morphine induced state and some things did not make a lot of sense..

I really felt bad telling ya mum that this will not change ya mind about motorbikes

See you tonite ... hmmm dunno that you wanna get to used to it .. geezz a month of work for xmas .. a month back to work & now few months off .. ... blardy shocking

Cheers for all the well wishes, support, visits, help with the bike and all the logistics guys, that's what I love about this site eh

The insurance issues seem to be coming together very nicely with AMI (gear), ANZA and the bike insurers all doing a sterling job to see that things are happening quickly.

Don't know if I'll be back in Black or Blue just yet, but I'm not particulary fussed either way. A new black one would be rather nice though

Personally, I'm doing quite well, still sore but nowhere near as bad as a few days ago. I'll be glad to see the cast off as it's quite heavy and hurts an already hurting shoulder.

My hand feels fine which is a surprise as the X Rays were a shocker! Bones everywhere. But I'm assured I'll play the violin again very soon which is good as I didn't play one before

Ribs are NOT designed to be broken, take it from me they hurt when they are! So please people, look after yours!

I thank the biker gods I was wearing good gear. If you look at my gear and then look at me you will see why. My upper and lower body look just fine, on the outside, while my jacket and pants don't. They held up bloody well all the same.

My helmet was completely munted particulary around the frontal facial area. Always remember to make sure it's on firmly as I'd hate to see my face if mine hadn't been!

I count myself very lucky to be up and mobile so soon, especially after seeing Helen still in a wheelchair and still in hospital.

I have wires in my right hand which will come out in a few weeks time, and I have a very large hole in one knuckle of my left hand. It will be interesting to see how that heals.

I'm very grateful I did most of my former binning on dirtbikes, as once the front initially went, reactions took over to prevent what could have been a very nasty highside with much more serious injuries.

Kerry saw the whole thing in his mirrors and confirmed just how violent the tankslapper was. I have some very interesting pics of the 'trajectory' too which shows the forces involved.

I'm pleased to know that once the bike became (VERY) unstable, that there wasn't too much I could do, apart from what I'd already tried to stop it. Bailing off was the only decision as it was literally uncontrollable I did try getting the power on but it was out of my hands so quickly. I'm just thanking god there was no oncoming traffic or any other obstacles in my path. No matter how good the gear is it don't stop the 'g', which is what does the damage.

So as said, a huge thanks for everything from me

Looking forward to the next chapter now. Take great care out there everyone

Case in point for the new ICON Field Armoured Vest I just purchased. Its a fully plated kidney belt/back protector/chest and shoulder rig thats lightweight and comfortable but offers protection to one of the two plces that still concern me. The chest area.

The other being the front of the thighs. Something to be said for the storm trooper look. I wear a ton of gear when I used to race at Mystery Creek in SuperX, yet out here on the roads there is less protection worn.

Lucky you wrap up good, and obviously bail out well.

Now go buy an Xbox and play WSBK-08 until your better.

Interesting points raised here. My Triumph gear was VERY well protected all round, which is why I suffered 'only' impact injuries which not much could have prevented.

I've just got back from Whitlocks in Wanga's where I scored a brand new Shoei Patriot off TM for $750.00. A bloody good buy, fits real snug and really light.

Stage one of the gear replacement has begun. I'm expecting AMI to come up with identical leathers and I may get the old ones back which I'll repair. I'm a happy camper.

Looking forward to seeing that 675 Sly, real glad you got that issue solved mate.

Seriously, look into Knox amour. You can view/purchase it on Quasi's site.

I shall Sarge If there's any lessons to be learned it's that gear is essential. I have a few weeks before I'm back on the bike and when I am I'm making sure I'm protected. Again.

The lid is farkin GREAT man. Couldn't believe it! Whisper kit is next if I think I need it.

I think you'll be impressed by some of that amour, very well regarded. Not cheap though but you know, what price for your bits and pieces.. ? Ask Banditrider about whisper kit's.

What? No way... Not good to hear at all. But nice "dynamic" write up. I could almost imagine it. Sorry to hear about the Tiger also...
Pity they don't make them in blue anymore.

Pardon me to ask, if the impact damage was that great, uhhh at what speed did it all happen?
I'm just curious because I don't remember breaking anything when my accident happened at 30kph (Not that I'm trying to proove that you were speeding! lol )

If you can make it on Kiwibiker you can make it anywhere.
