Yep there was one hell of a group of "newbies" more like mutton dressed like lamb I reckon they were off like goff when we hit ashurst.
great to do a wet ride every now and again, if not for the great cause I would have stayed in bed

Thanks to all who turned up in Aucks this morning for the Tauranga - Rotorua - Hamilton ride. It was cool and the weather wasn't as bad out of Auckland, in fact it was quite sunny in patches. Overall I really enjoyed myself - absolutely shattered now but that's ok.

Good to do it for such a worthy cause as well - a couple of years ago I was very sick out on Great Barrier Island and the helicopter came and got me and took me straight to hospital. Don't know what I would have done without it so it was nice do at least do something for them.

    Cheers all.

Ha ha, yeah I reckon you're right...including a one riding a ZX14 and his mate on an R1
I think a lot of those guys just wanted ride at a lower pace due to the conditions which is a fair call.

to be honest Sarge I am delighted that most made that call, the weather was not the best to say the least, but then I dunno if the chanceyy speach scared them as well, even if I had no voice .....

Real good call although as I was leading the experienced group I was impressed with the behaviour of the big bikes. Everyone got into the spirit of the ride and left their brains engaged. Hard to believe we got 60 bikes through mangamorie without a single incident.

I was a little nervous when I heard some big bikes went out with the newbie group and were going to wait at summerhill and not finding them there when we got up there I thought they might be carving the newbie group up and went out in front of 86 and I to not be restrained. Pleased I was wrong.

I would include myself in that group having ridden on and off ( as in not continuously - even one of Bones' bikes wouldn't last that long ) for 40 odd years but riding in the rain gives me the shits so was happy to trickle along at my own pace . I have done one trip in the helicopter as a customer and although the flight was very enjoyable I am in no hurry to repeat it. I found the worst bit was trying to negotiate the square in torrential rain right at the start. It was great to be on a mass ride without any dickheads. Thanks Chanccy and co.for another well organised ride

Just over 6 k and i'm sure i could have got another couple out of it ! Though i did touch a couple of 3 inch heart murmers yesterday and she's a dry weather only tyre now ! Wishing i'd bought that bloody paddock stand the other week like i was gonna, Got a brand new pirelli not doing too much in the next room mmmm 2 paddock stands , one rattle gun, compressor ! shiet wish i had garage ! Or even a bike shop next door, oh wait i do haha (not that he does tyres but ....) !
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

Well i know there will be a lot of riders out there, who are upset they cant get a photo of them on such a good cause !
But as a consolation I'll put up a photo for anyone to help themselves to, of everyones favourite bikes ! Taken in a private domain even !!
