Worked fine, only thing I like better about the RAM mount is that it grips it from three points like a 'claw' from behind. Whereas the OEM Navman mount has a small 'slot' in the back.

Would prefer a claw too a slot but the slot is cheaper.

Sorry "RAM Solutions" but it is just too expensive. Not all us bikers are made of money!

    Hey Ivan,

Sorry to sound like 'Angry of Massey', I should probably looked at another type of mount. The physics of the rubberised stem mount + an adjustable gimbal + a reasonably heavy camera meant it would very likely shake around.
I'll have another look at your site and get in touch. I'm off to the Kiwitrackday on the 30th and need to get some on-bike footage!

Cheers mate, will be in touch

Any way to bring the price down?

Holy outstanding customer service, Batman! In my letterbox this morning was a courier pack with the requisite and only-ordered-yesterday Ram components. Blown away, I am.

    Full marks Ivan! Thank you.

Sorry 'bout that dan.... you might be surprised to know how many dealers are in real life passionate KBers much like yourself. And... like most bikers, we go out on a limb to look after our own. Hope the new Ram-Mount works out - you can save the duct tape for another day. Cheers...

I was curious about this though:

But I think I will trial the mount first, then worry about the rain destroying my satnav! Will it fit though? Thats the question!

I'm after a mount to hold the DVR for my helmet camera, which I need to have fitted before the FJR goes in a crate on Saturday 24 May. I guess it doesn't have to be a RAM, but needs to be durable, functional and not huckery. At this stage of proceedings I'm not going to get overly hung up on price. I need a solution by a deadline.

Any assistance would be appreciated warmly.
Well it arrived... So I just spent the last hour putting it together and mounting on my bike...

Thought I would post a few pictures.

Ran into only one problem, that was being a stem mount it uses a length of rubber with a central bolt - unfortunatly my bikes stem hole is very small! So I actually had to get the craft knife out and carve away at the rubber to make it fit. Also the plastic cap covered some pretty nasty stuff so i wanted to keep that - so I drilled a hole in it and after a few tries and slices of rubber later it fitted together nicely and neatly!

Yet to take it out for a spin but looks good!

Function wise it's fantastic - the angles and different positions mean I can still make use of a tank bag while still being able to see the gauges!

Overall quality is fantastic, very well made and all components fit perfectly together. Only down sides would be the length of the bolt - longer would be much better, as only an inch of rubber is inside the stem hole. The other down side was the price - now I know, even with a discount it is still a lot of money for a mount - but seeing as the build quality is so high I can justify the expense since it will no doubt last a hell of a lot longer than the $50 OEM mount I was going to buy.

Cheers RAM Solutions - Great product !

Why dont you go down to a machine shop with some pics of the RAM mount; see what kinda price you'd be looking at to get a machinist to replicate its function.

Also- you seem to be missing the fact that this mount looks like a secure and safe way to secure your electronics- ESP compared to your stock 50$ mount and zipties. Seems like cheap insurance to me.

But then what do i know?

Well, it seems my problem was the camera setting and not the Ram Mount after all - bloody thing! I've tried another camera using my the stem mount and she's as solid as a rock. Nice one Ram Solutions
