    Starting problem 95 BMW F650

I have a starting problem with my 95 BMW F650
It starts from cold with full choke beautifully and will idle on full choke no problems but when I try to rev it with the choke on it coughs and dies. It also coughs and dies if I take the choke off whilst idling. Getting the choke off (ohh err missus) is a delicate combination of rolling on some throttle and easing the choke off at the same time.
Once the choke is off the bike will idle and rev fine.
I recently moved the voltage regulator to in fount of the air intake so it is possible that this is reducing the airflow into the carbs but the problem did exist before I did this.
Any suggestions or anyone know a bike mechanic in Auckland that I can get to look at it.

    Thanks
    Mac

you do know what a choke does right?
Then I could get a Kb Tshirt, move to Timaru and become a full time crossdressing faggot

Well apart from enriching the mixture what else? It should be at least possible to rev the engine with it on should it not?

Stand aside, Pike. The "choke" on an F650, as on many bikes, is not actually a choke at all, but an enrichening device.

The problem here may be that the plunger that goes into the left side carb is partially siezed, so whilst the lever and cable are moving properly, the plunger may take a while. This is quite likely if there has ever been water get into the fuel. Pull the enrichment plunger out and give it a clean with Autosol, or toothpaste and see if it is any different.

Here's a good source of info.
