GIZY!!
Ok folks.. here's an update on our run!
(I will go back & amend the original post too...)
Meet at the Richmond A & P Showgrounds, Lower Queen St at 10am.. we leave at 10.30
We will be heading up Queen St, along Salisbury Rd, Main Rd Stoke, Waimea Rd, Rutherford St, Selwyn Pl, Trafalgar St, Halifax St, Haven Rd, Wakefield Quay, Rocks Rd, Tahunanui Dr, Parkers Rd, Bolt Rd, McLaren Dr, Trent Dr, & into to the car park area at the Helicopter base. Arriving approx 12pm
We will have a Police escort lead car & others who will be manning the lights so that we can ride through as a big group!I decided that since it will be Winter & I am aiming for at least 200+ bikes to be present.. that we would do a shorter, large group, high impact ride here.. rather than "go for a "ride" around the region!
I have been around a heap of shops seeking sponsorship & still have more to do... mostly everyone has been hugely supportive!!!
We are looking to auction off the items that have been sponsored & will have a few spot prizes as well!We have also decided to have pre-paid tickets available at a few selected shops (TBA), & those who purchase a pre paid $10.00 ticket will go in the draw to win one of 2 x $90 baskets of goodies from Liquor King!
There are still a lot of details to be finalised, so stay tuned.. but my aim is to make this event as BIG as possible & draw as MANY of our local motorcyclists out of the Winter woodwork to support our Rescue Helicopter!!!!!
Paula has to raise between $500,000 & $1 Million per year.. to keep our helicopter operational!!!!!!!!!!![]()
so PLEEEEEASE pass the word around, for people to come along!!!!!

& the other paper next week, to do the same..
Have been collecting some awesome bits & pieces for the auction.. & am working on a big grand finale auction package..
stay tuned....
Oh.. & did I mention..that Garden City Helicopters will be offering rides on the day in their R22 helicopter, for the small sum of $50, which all goes to the Summit Rescue Helicopter!!
WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!
That would be great Anne, thanksI've been wondering what I am going to do/say about the cheesecutter issue, on the day..

Madness in some peoples eyes to combine the two issues. Really though it is as much an opportunity to bring the awareness back to the public as anything else. Wear those red arm bands. Take the petition out there and get some signatures! Show the car under the wire rope, show the truck over the wire rope. These things are not safe for any road user. They are acceptable and cheap! They catch cars and prevent head on collisions in some instances. Sadly, they are not being installed in a safe way here, and against the guidelines that are in place to mitigate their ability to maim and kill.
Ooops... back on topic
I will send you a little something to say on the day. Meantime just get the petition out there to be signed, and raise a heap of money for your helicopter!!!
Check out the poster Paula has put together.. AWESOME aye!!!!!!
ps: don't go to the shops to get your tickets just yet.. they're still at the printers!!should be in the shops next week!

Awesome work there Jen ... well done ... I know that there will be heaps of support down that way!!!!![]()
You are the man Jen.....
Seriously top effort 'matey potatey'... I am over the moonly happy with how this Event has grown over the last 5-6 weeks. Everyone is doing an extemely good job for their regions. We are having a meeting on Sunday so that we can talk through the day's comings and goings with the 10 riders we have in our group. Shane (Deputy Editor Motorcycle Trader) will be there with us and he also is coming on the ride.
osh requirements for the helicopter base at nelson airport?
will there need to be a register like at auckland?
I will check with Paula about OSH.. sbut he hasn't mentioned anything like that. They did have their yearly public open day about a month or so ago, so I would imagine that any sort of requirement would have had to have been organised/ or whatever, for that.
I will put a event notice up on the calendar.. can put an attendance register on too.. but seeing how as there are only a handfull of KB'rs in Nelson, it won't look too flash..![]()
The reporter for the "Leader" newspaper came today & have got the "Waimea Weekly" coming next week. Am contacting the Nelson Evening Mail & the Buy Sell Swap paper also. There are about 500 posters being printed up at the moment which will go to all the bike shops & heaps of other places as well & the radio will be advertising for us too.So am relying on all of the posters, the media, local bike clubs & word of mouth to spread the news of this event!
so get to it!!!![]()
