How much to repair GN250, indicators, mirror, wheel alignment

Hi.... I'm pretty angry at myself atm, i just came of my bike going around a corner in the wet very slowly. Only myself to blame really, but i had asked my parents to use the car to go to school to hand my assignment in but they needed it ><

I was going very slowly around a corner on my 2006 Suzuki GN250 to the left and just slipped to one side at very low speed, small scrape on my knee.

As far as i can tell, i:
-broke me left mirror off (the thing which holds the actual mirror part is still there)
-Back left indicator (i think?) just stays on rather than blinking when i indicate left and its a bit bent from where it sticks out
-Front indicator is a bit bent from where it sticks out, still blinks when i indicate but the orangey shell part isnt connected properly to the frame no more
-My front wheel seems to be slightly crooked (to the left i think?)now but is still rideable
-Cosmetically the rubber on the bottom of the foot rest for my left foot is a bit torn up but still holds my foot fine

Basically can anyone tell me how much this would cost to get repaired roughly? I'm dreading this because my dad told me not to get one and dont have too much spare to repair this

Oh man sucks to hear that, hit a white line or something? Yeah it's a bad day for riding in aucks! Where you leaning a bit?

    http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Mo...-153982196.htm

Maybe ask that guy for the diff parts?

Back indicator could be checked out by yourself just check the wiring, there must be something slightly off.

Front wheel is kinda wondering if it's bent?? How hard was this crash! Did the wheel hit the curb or something?

    Re: GN 250

    Gidday El Lanzo,
Head to the Yellow Pages & let your fingers do the walking...

GN 250's have been around since Adam was a piss poor cowboy & luckily for you most wreckers will have plentiful stocks of good second hand stuff kicking about that will cost you a lot less than new...

Do yourself a favour & ring around to see what they've got, but when it comes time to go pick the bits up take your old damaged parts with you to compare them to what the wreckers are offering...

All up I would have thought you'd have got whatever bits you require for under $100.00 notes

In as far as your front end is concerned, bite the bullet & book it in to the dealers & have them inspect it - it's better to be safe than sorry, chances are the forks have just twisted in the triple clamps which can be remidied very easily...

I'm thinking it will be cheaper for you to fix it yourself (with the help of someone suitably knowledgeable) rather than claim on your insurance...

    Cheers

To finish first - first you must finish... Oh b.t.w, which way doe's Turn 1 go & whats the lap record...

Wheel can be straightned easy, if it has no major bends, warps or dents a good mechanic can just adjust the spokes.
the rest should only set you back a couple of hundred MAX.
Ideally you should be back on the road for less than $100.

    .

This is the first ever vehicle ive owned with cars included. If i take to a mechanic or whatever to fix, should i have the parts such as the indicator and mirror myself, as i doubt i'd be able to fix this myself. I dont mind handing bike over to someone, im just hoping it can be fixed for under 300$ in total in fact i'd prefer it.

Yeah i have to ride with the handle bars every so slightly in one direction (cant remember if its left or right) to travel straight, i was able to ride it home after the incident fine, i just went at worm speed around corners (which i guess i should have done originally as opposed to turtle speed). I think i would have been going 10kmph or less, and na i didnt hit a curb, just fell over turning on the really smooth ground might have even been the white pedestrian crossing(i cant remember if i leaned, i may have ever so slightly), didnt slide forward at all i dont think.

Maybe i should clarify, real hard to explain stuff i barely understand, i think the actual wheel itself is fine but lyk its more closely to one side of the 'forks?' i think. The change in direction is minimal, i just have to turn my handlebars a few milimetres in one direction

Ok after looking at it further (albeit in dim light) i found that when i indicated left, my back left light remained on, whilst my front one failed to expel any light what so ever. Also, my dash thingy showed the left light solid whilst when i indicated right it blinked.

Also after inspecting my wheel situation further it looks to me as if the 'mudguard?' is still straight and evenly spaced between the 'forks?' but the actual tyre/wheel is tilted to the left and maybe phsyically a bit more to the left?

Any more feedback you guys can give knowing this? haha ... GRRR /wrist
    Thanks

Do you reckon it's rideable to Epsom tomorrow? Squiggles should be able to get it fixed up, in exchange of amber liquid. Or maybe take pm Frosty, he has a van to carry bikes and offers his workshop on the weekend with any tools you will need.

Sorry to hear about your accident Dude. But don't worry too much; it happens to the best of us :-)

Don't worry about the indicator that doesn't flash mate. It'll work once you fix the other one that isn't working at all. It's just that you need to be drawing a certain amount of current before the flasher unit starts working. As soon as you've got both indicators drawing current, it'll flash just fine.
My bike doesn't leak oil; it marks its territory.

Yer, the front left bulb has probably blown. with the wheel alignment, like i said in the pm, its quite likely the risers have bent. But put up a pic from above and we'll be able to see for sure. If you bring it round we can sort it easy, there are already 3 GN's in the shed

Straighten the twist in the forks yourself. Put the side of the wheel against the house and turn the bars in the opposite direction to the twist. Easier to do it than explain. You may have to do this a coupe of times until they are straight.
If the spill was as low speed as you say it's extremely unlikely that you have really bent either the forks or the wheel.
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.

Man, I am just so impressed with the help you guys are offering on this forum, it's awesome to see the support from fellow kb'ers.

'Riding GN's in the wet sucks, it's not your fault, they are just made to slide I think, they are so light. I've heard others mention that the tyres on the new GN's are also dangerous, although I hardly ever rode mine in the rain so don't really know about that.

Hope the assignment was worth the journey out into the rain :-)

and kudo's to all here ~

It will cost you $1 for the new bulb, $2 for a pack of glue-gun sticks to fix the indicators, and also do what Pete said above. That's $3.

Chin up El Lanzo. You've had your first (I presume) bin and it's all uphill from here. Sounds like you've got the help you'll need to get everything sorted.

I'm guessing that you've still using the original tyres? I'd seriously suggest that if you can afford to you replace them with something semi-decent. I got mine from MotoHaus and can thoroughly recommend them. Not only will they be safer but you'll enjoy the bike more as well.
