    Leather alterations in CHCH?

I'm after a place that can alter my leather trousers. I was very kingly given them by Flame but I'm a bit chubbier than I thought and I need some panels put in the sides to extend the waist band. I need about 5 or 6cm put in each side (starts at the waistband and thins down towards the knees), and I've had a quote from Leather image (I think? Fitzgerald Ave) here in CHCH who do alterations, but just wondered if anyone knew anywhere else that actually does alterations. I don't think general alteration places will deal with leather as I don't know if they have the machines or threads to actually do it.

I was quoted $85-$105 (depending on time spent on them) and have been told that it was maybe a bit high - but I wouldn't have a clue, I've never had anything like this done before.

    Any help is appreciated

She's done panel replacement, stitching repairs, new liner etc for me and it's always been good quality work with reasonable prices and good turnaround time

Depending on the brand and spec of the leather, you have to be aware that having panels inserted might reduce the "safety factor" of your gear.
Most leather alterations shops does not have equipment that allows them to do the fancy multi-layer stitching that some brands use.

    Good luck with it!

Yeah, this is why I went to the Leather Image place because they do .. well, leather. And not just some alteration shop that can't do the right stitching for the trousers. But yep, will keep it in mind, cheers

Haven't had anything done there but I've been told by people that have that they do a good job, one of the owners is also into bikes, he used to ride a nice F1 Ducati

Naturalwear have been making leathers for decades (road gear) and the stuff that has been done for me has survived a few crashes on the track without any of it coming apart, come to think of it their road gear I use has had a couple of offs as well and stood up to it rather well

I remember asking these guys not long ago about alterations and they said they didn't do them .. so maybe they've stopped?

    Thumbs up

Just got my QUASiMOTO Jacket tailored at Leather Image on Fitzgerald Avenue. I shopped around first and these guys literally charged half the price of all the competition.

Cost me $45 to get the sleeves shortened. Was quoted $35-40, but said it could be $10 either way - so that's alright. The quality of the work was pretty good as well, no complaints. Also, the turnaround was under 24 hours, how's that for service!

Always shop around though, because all the different places can do different things for vastly different prices.

    CHCH Leather alterations?

Hey has anyone had any alterations done to leather jackets / pants in CHCH before?
    Who's good at it?
I've bought a new jacket and want to get some areas taken up...
I want the arms / sleeves / wrist area shrunk / taken in a tad...
Anyone recommend someone who's done it before?
