I managed to make my way round the half marathon course in 1hr 53 min so was stoked with that. 1st half marathon, and way longer than I'd ever run before so was about ready to fall over at the finish line. Was going sweet until about 15km, then got harder and harder with every km after that. Found the KD's who'd just finished themselves and wandered aimlessly and unsuccessfully for beer. Good to meet Sully, Number 1 and Kiwifruit afterwards too.

Got home, showered and fed then spent the afternoon being nursed back to health. Still walking like a cripple today, but not quite as bad as yesterday afternoon!

Lisa and myself jogged around the 10km, didn't recognise anyone without their helmets on though. Wet and squelchy

Congratulations you guys ( and guyesses ) I see the weather was up to its usual tricks. One year I did it several people were hospitalised with hypothermia and waves were crashing over part of the course down by the waterfront. Guarenteed good weather for palmy in august

Was nice to meat you guys, good onyas for getting out there. Nice time Kinje, well done! Pity the bars weren't open afterwards...
Had a good run, nice tail wind on the way out then tough headwind on the way back..... was trying to draft behind the biggest guy near me which worked well but wasn't as motivating as running after a female. Was awesome to come round the final head into oriental bay, watching the cake tin get bigger and bigger.
Ran my first sub 2 hour, 1:57:24, stoked!

I was on fire that day. I passed several people going into corners, weaved in and out of slow traffic, moved aside for the faster classes that were overtaking me.
All in all, it was almost the perfect intro into marathon events for me.

They don't require proof of age, y'know.

I'm entering the over-75 walker class in the next event I do.
