not good... been riding too much and not running enough. On my Monday validation run I only managed a 51.11s run for the 10Km and that was with a 300m sprint at the end. My pacing is off a mile and I should have been out of breath but wasn't!

As long as Maria doesn't come in, before me I'll be happy I think. Hitting 40mins would be nice and prove all the army days weren't for nothing.

Goodluck all and no coughing up lungs

The run has been on my mind ever since I picked up the racing pack this morning. Silly really as I am only running against myself. I've felt quite lazy as part of the wind down has been no gym and running since wednesday. I would have had 3 whole days off exercise!

I've started carbo loading and thought I'd indulge in some pizza tonight. Tomorrow will be pasta then a heap of toast on sunday morning.

    Go team GOAT HTFU!

Good luck and go hard you lot!!!
We're hoping to come down and snap some pics of Fruity, so if you're participating and want us to cheer for you and take a picture then post up your number (and probably what colour your number is.... that's how it works isn't it, I can't remember) and we'll keep a look out for you!

We came, we saw and us Kiwibikers' kicked its arse!

Weather was great. cool and reasonably calm (slight southerly which was good since we had it on our tail on the way back).

1:28:43 for the half. Bloody stoked. Ran a negative split (46:09 at the halfway) and thought I'd put the boot in about 4kms to go. Thought I was going to spew at the end (lactic acid?) but that settled down pretty quick. Calves are sore. Bloody worth it though.

    Hope you guys did well.

    That's quick! Well done.

We're 4:10 out from the start gun now, so the txt from Mr Fruit with his marathon time should be arriving real soon...

    Speaking of the Kiwi Fruit.

An impressive leap in the air considering how many k had been run and still a few left to go.

I struggled my way around the 1/2 in 2.10 which was slower than planned. The first split was 59, all downhill from there...

Vicki and I managed the 10km walk (cough)

Bit of a bugger having to carry the supplies I need to keep the blood sugars up. Either 10km run or half marathon walk next time...

Well done Dave! You've got to be happy with that time, thats quick. Your words about pain being weakness leaving the body were helpful... lots of weakness left my body.

Nice time for the ten k slydesigns, well done to Maria too. Paul in NZ, well done to you and Vicki as well. Good effort Jase and bungbung i know how that downhill feeling goes... you should still be proud of yourself.

My official net time was 4:33:47
Tough day for me! Really good weather for it, concrete skys with light breeze... we were lucky not to have the stiff southerly that arrived later in the day. I was fine fitness wise but the hard surface really hurt, i've not run on tarmac for so long before. By 28km i was in pain from the impact.... cramps focusing around the hip joint and buttock area. Around 30k in a was almost forced to walk, ouchies!
Had heaps of support from friends and family which was a huge boost. Thank you!
Finish time was slower than i'd hoped for but still stoked.

Attached is the fathom from my GPS. Ignore the heart rate data, chest strap was on the blink, reading really high so i discarded it. You can see the speed drop off around 22k and again a bit further on. Ran with the guy in the dog suit until the halfway hill in seatoun (wasn't expecting that hill!!!) where he dropped me. Got the learn from some old guys in the final ten k... they were working hard and were mentally strong. There were a few people out there not eating and drinking enough who ended up in a bit of trouble / pain. Had gas for a fast(ish) final half k. The silly jump i did for the kendog's camera at the 39k mark was a mistake.... waste of energy, at least the photo is awesome. Timmay!!!

Thank you to all the people that have helped me get this far, i could not have done so well without your support.

    Cheers,
    Allan.

Good stuff Allan! I was very surprised to see such a spirited leap after what was it..... 40kms or something, and you looked like you landed badly.... Had me very worried that you may have hurt yourself!! Well done, you should be very proud of yourself, we are!

yeah it was a bit of worry, no idea where the energy came from for that display, landed ok but prolly looked unco as... was trying to minimise the impact. Thanks Kendog for the photo!!
