Bummer! I don't know if you would have lost that much conditioning. If it happened prior to race day then yes - your energy stores would have been depleted. With 12 days to go, you've got enough time to get 'em back up.

I had a mild cold last week but just decided to press on. I've entered with a few mates as team "GOAT HTFU" (get our act together and harden the F up).

Do you know if they are taking photos this year? Might be good for a larf. I looked like a puffer fish from the last lot taken in the Auckland half as I just about barfed a lung stretching out for the finish line.

Not long to go now people. No doubt you are questioning your fitness - have I done enough? Will it hurt? Will I risk ripping my pants? Answers to all these questions will come in good time. May I leave you with some words of wisdom / inspiration....

    - For every high there might be a low, but for every low there will be a high
    - Each step is actually 2 - one step farther from the start and another step closer to the finish
    - Pain is the sign of weakness leaving the body
    - Ask not what you can do for your run, but what your run can do for you!

And the last and most inspirational....

"Let us therefore brace ourselves to our duties, and so bear ourselves that, if the Kiwibiker forums and its runners lasts for a thousand years, men will still say, “This was their finest hour!”

One option is to pre-poo your pants. That way no-one will be able to tell if you do during the race.

    Cheers kiwifruit.

According to www.metvuw.co.nz - the long range forecast has a bit of the ol' rain coming into the capital (although the heavy stuff is currently directed Taupo way).

Pressure looks good, but a northerly is predicted (hopefully a gentle one). I've only got 2 short runs left... just to keep things ticking over (tues/wed) then break for 3 days then GAME ON!

Yeah - heavy rain forecast for sunday.,.. although the wind / air pressure looks respectable. Personally, I'd rather run in rain than strong headwind.

Bib #3730 for me. I'll probably run starkers if its too cold

Yep, pretty good chance of a wet arse. It is a mid winter run in Wellington after all!

I'm starting to get the pre race body nerves already! Increased metabolism, elevated resting heart rate, butterflies..... fight or flight responses. I'm pretty calm and confident mentally, roll on sunday!!
