It is an old school carbine 30.06 that belonged to my grandad in south africa. it was his main hunting rifle which has shot a man eating lion, a bull elephant that was terrorising a village, various other elephants during culling seasons, all different types of buck etc. We are not sports killers though, all animals were shot for either ecological reasons or for food. (Biltong)
When I was over there this year, shot my uncles .375 magnum with Nitro rounds. That thing is wicked.
Never done target shooting...but basically, if I can see it well enough, I can shoot it.

Learnt early on, talk shit it will catch up with you and then you will either have to live up to your words or eat them. I am no pro fighter at all and having not been really training too hard (note at all) for the past month as I have been building my new house and working my arse off, but even unfit and in poor form I reckon I could hold my own.
Nail your colours to the mast that all may look upon them and know who you are.
It takes a big man to cry...and an even bigger man to laugh at that man.

DUDE!, he's talking about a 375 magnum, use a pistol designed for that bullet and your wrist would never be the same again!

And shoot an angry elephant with your S&W 357 and you'll be in a power of trouble.

My point was never that I had a beef with you. To be honest I have no opinion on whether I like you or not! I am sure I could quite easily go for a ride with you and share a beer and have a good day! I am sure you could also piss me off. I refuse to judge someone by who they are on the internet

My point was simply that if it had been my old man who's life had been risked, I would tend to be a tad reactive. It was then suggested that I might be all hot air behind a screen, so I thought I would back my yap up a bit with a bit of fact. I am not a shit stirer without intention.

On the topic of guns, we spent an afternoon playing with a Ruger KP85 and a Smith & Wesson 357 magnum also. The revolver so smooth and stable. The Ruger jamed a few times on us which was wierd. Think the ammo was a bit old and thus not ejecting the spent rounds with enough force.

Shit yeah, the 375 magnum was very very powerful. The nitro rounds added that little bit more punch. Funny thing was, it was a much better designed weapon, it was stable and deadly accurate whereas the 303 & 30.06 we were using were less so. The 30.06 had a double trigger set up (cant remember the name, basically you pull the first trigger to set the trigger, then when your finger just so much as grazes the second trigger, it goes off. It is made for people who flinch when shooting and thus allows them to shoot more accurately. I found it hard to shoot.)

To clarfy, 375 magnum is one helluva big rifle, 357 was the revolver.
