Altitude bar normally have good bands, Shihad, etc
Titties hang out, (literally) at Fire Cats, (not that I would know)
Lias will be the man in the know. (doorman I think).
Stag nights work in any town if the group have the right attitude.

As Triboy says Altitude rock, but I am bias cos I work there. Thursdays at Altitude gonna be good for the next few weeks, as per below. As has been mentioned above the vast majority of Hamiltons bars are in one city block, at the southern end of the CBD (Victoria / Hood / Alexandra /Collingwood).
    Altitude
(Alexandra St) is mostly 18-25's, plays a mix of stuff but msotly "get up and dance" kinda stuff.
Monkey Feather (Alexandra St) plays electronica for all the ravers.
Charmers (Alexandra St) is mostly maori/PI patrons, plays hiphop etc, and can be a bit rough at times.
Billy's (Victoria St) or Hyperdome (Alexandra St) for karaoke, Hyperdome also has a fuckload of pool tables. Mostly asian patrons but friendly enough to anyone.
Axces mostly plays rock/metal, local band Chuganaut are a regular band.
Shine (Victoria St) is the local gay bar
Caz Bar (Marketplace) is a small cozy cafe/bar that often has live bands
The Bank (Cnr Victoria/Hood) is generally an older / suit market, but livens up a bit later on in the night.
Digger's (Hood St) is pretty much the 35+ meat market, but almost always has live bands and a raging crowd.
Bahama Hut (Alexandra St) is affectionaly known as Bahama Slut or the slut, is pretty much the 18-25 meat market.

Plenty of other good bars around, the only one I'll go out of my way to NOT recommend is The Outback, they are pretty much fuckwits, the hospos from most of the other bars dont get on with them and they shit on customers alot. Outback, along with Altitude & Bahama Hut are the main bars for the "student" market, but Outback's attitude is by far the worst of all the bars in town.

    Upcoming at Altitude:

Friday 16th May: Tahuna Breaks live, reggae/funk band, $10 covercharge
Thursday 22nd June: Wet Tshirt Heat 1
Thursday 29th June: Wet Tshirt Heat 2
Thursday 05th June: Wet Tshirt Heat 3
Thursday 12th June: Wet Tshirt Finals.
Thursday 24th July: Shihad live!!! (Oh fuck yeah!)

PS: Altitudes website has a huge gallery with pics from past bikini comps and wet tshirt comps. Enjoy :-)

I'm outta bling for the moment - but nice write up Lias.

I don't know all of the people in the group, but I'd say we're likely to be a bunch of rather diverse fellas in the range of 27-35 years of age. Many of whom enjoy good music and good drinks.

Good to have an idea about where to go

Mate dont even sweat it, the bars are all so close just pick n choose as you walk around the block, its such an easy place to go out, no travelling in cars or taxis between bars just a 5 sec walk from one to the other.

Sounds like it - and good to hear. I've never been out in Hamos before, just good having an idea about what to expect.

400 m Pub crawl could be the nights first discipline...

If you went to every bar in that area, and just had one drink you'd probably run the risk of death by alchohol poisoning :-)

Sounds like a proper challenge for a stag-night then, eh?

Must admit I found Hamilton on a thursday night a disappointment...

The groom was entirely too happy about putting on his skimpy costume and the night passed way too quickly before he got 'ill' and had to be taken home...

    Anyway, time to sleep!

    Ah well, you tried!

But maybe you should tell him it wasn't good enough and you need to repeat on a monthly basis until you get it right.
Who, me? I just wander from thread to thread.
