    International Space Station passing times

    Click on the link.

    Click Real time data and Go to sighting options.

    Go to country New Zealand.


    Click on city or the closest one to where you live.


    You will get the time of passing, degree at zenith, direction of pass and duration of pass.

    It looks like a really bright star. It is a little brighter than the planet Jupiter appears.

    It moves across the sky quite fast, tracking across in about 4 minutes.

    Altitude is around 360km above the earth's surface - travelling at around 27,000km/hr.

    Just saw it go past my window, didn't even have to get out of my chair.
    Looked just as good as when I last saw it in 05.

    ASTRONOMY GEEK ALERT!

    Have you seen an Iridium Flare / Flash? The satellites that serve the Sat-phone have a big shiny flat-panel antenna on them, like a mirror. And you can see on the website when they are going to point at your house so the sun shines off the mirror, causing a bright flash in the sky. Brighter than any star, it's quite amazing to see.
    Have a look at the schedule here, you enter your details where you are and it gives you a schedule of viewing times and directions and angles to look.
