Fairly averagely. 4 speed box with no possible mods to swap a 6 or 5 speed into it.

Good for a starting bucket only. Skunk bike is a AX100. He's gotten a fair amount out of his . But is still limited to the box.

Ok guys, so in your opinion, how much work/$$ to turn that bike into an entry-level bucket racer for a noob such as myself? I.e. not super-competitive.

Looking at it, a seat is required. That should be all. I assume it runs etc.
DO NOT consider making it any faster than it is. The 4 speed box is not a 'fixable' item unlike the MB/H100. Any money spent is pretty much lost. I speak from experience... If you plan on changing the engine for something else then the frame is worth developing. It'll never be an A grade winner though.

Really? So the bits and bobs like brakes etc suggested by Squiggles wouldn't be essential? (I know brakes are essential, but is what's on the bike sufficient?)

Nah, like I said - entry level only required at this stage.

Well that's interesting to know, could be an option!

Neither will I mate! A friend of mine always says, you can't win the Melbourne cup on a Clydesdale!

I have a seat and rear end of Pammy's that you could have that'd probably fit providing the frame hasn't been modified so a standard AX seat and arse end doesn't fit any more.

Brakes are overrated. They slow you down.
It depends on whether the bits are there or not and whether the bits that are there fit (eh, Trudes ). Anything can be MADE to go. It just takes time and who you know. Bucketeers down here tend to help each other out - I guess it's the same there.

Someone on here has a signature that says something along the lines of 'If hitting with a hammer doesn't fix it, it's probably an electrical problem'
