Somebody try it!
Don't want to flog A dead horse now but does the following rule mean the bike is ineligable for ss? he says ss is all good in the response to a question on the auction....
22.12.3 Streetstock is open to any street type road registerable mass production
machine up to 150cc of any make available or sold or on sale in New Zealand,
(apparently its not road registerable)
the other two in the condition they were presented in definitely not.
In regards to this 3rd 'stock' bike he's listed. I'm just wandering given that he's imported the bike does this mean that it cannot be entered in ss because its not registerable for some reason?
You are actually allowed to do quite a bit to a four stroke to compete in 150SS if you check the rules. Might've only been a couple of things that would be in dispute.
CBR150's are fine to race, I dont think each individual bike has to be registerable to compete, just the model concerned.
Yea I've read all about the allowed mods etc, i was there with the protested bike so yep, yadda yadda....
i think you've answered my Q about the individual bike needing to be register-able and thinking again it doesn't make sense.. otherwise all write off bikes couldn't be used as race bikes...
I think the wording would imply you can't use a bike you couldn't register in NZ. The intention would be to prevent people entering race bikes or purpose built machines as is done in buckets - the bikes must have been roadworthy when original trim, and still stock bar a few exempt parts - ie a "street" bike in "stock" condition.
Just because LTSA makes it very difficult to register a bike (or car) in NZ if you're one of the first to try, doesn't mean we should ban a bike that would otherwise pass a cert and WOF.
The two other racebikes he was selling were faaar from stock condition, and undoubtedly illegal on most aspects of their modification (judging by the auction description and my crude understanding of the rules - I'm not even sure if it's legal for buckets, either!)
My neighbours diary says I have boundary issues
4 strokes some modifications are permitted “Original
camshaft may be ground, proprietary carburetor kit may be fitted” and exhaust
pipe upgrade (95dBA)
This class will exist for production-based machines to be raced in a competitive
environment, with some freedom for machine set up but within the confines
of rules to suit the New Zealand market conditions.
2 strokes in Streetstock are to run stock standard, 4 strokes as above are allowed some modifications. While maybe not being 100% legal, probably the majority of the 2 strokes arent either. But then again its not a National Championship ....
