have you guys considered using a lower gear to keep the revs up in a smoother power region of your rev ranges?

dont think there is a gear lower than 1st gear andrew..unless the 929 has a -1 gear..like some trucks have just low torque gears for those sticky situations..not sure what their called..sure pocketcracker will know..
For those of you whose use the fast lane on motorways and only do a 100km/hr, can you pls use the middle lane, some of us like to ride at 105km/hr thank you very much.

well either it's jumpy cause they're cruising in top gear and it's revving too low so surging and sputtering, or they're going in 1st gear at high(ish) revs and have too much power available making it twitchy, in which case they should move up a gear or 5

the reason we have gearboxes is to allow us a degree of control over the power output at a given speed, so to use one gear only and complain the engine isn't behaving seems a bit silly

EDIT: gearboxes also help give a higher top end when the engine redlines, and have obvious fuel economy/engine abuse advantages

Well I can easily cruise with 2nd and 3rd gear ...without issues used to be able to just cruise with 3rd before chucking the aftermarket exhaust. No it flys on pretty much any gear. Like I said has happen to all 3 of my Fireblades. Must be something about ex-suzuki riders been used to explosive throttle power then switching to a Honda. Wait to you hit 6000rpm on the blade and the bike flys....

I think in Ewen case it is jumpy as I have riden on it before just felt the same as my bike. I truly think that it is all the way we ride the bike....agreed with Andrew that one just need to adjust to the appropriate gear when riding. Surely not all gears are exhibiting the same problem. My bike has done twice the amount of k's than Ewen's and I dont seem to have a problem with such a wonderful bike.....since I am saying so many nice things about the 929...anyone wanna buy my bike so that I can buy a Repsol? anybody?

First you must become one with your GN.

Sit on your bike and contemplate the meaning of being a rider, feel the what the bike is trying to tell you and learn it's personality. Once you have centered yourself, then you may start the bike.

Then you must go on lengthy group rides with all your KB buddies and learn the true meaning of freedom.

I'd suggest rather than just hooning out there on a few rides that you spend a fair bit of time going slow, riding round cones in empty car parks and learning to control the bike smoothly at low speed, then a bit more around town riding, then a bit of open road with 1 or 2 others.... If you want to do some round cones riding and stuff you can join hanne's sister as she practises for her BHS

Thanks for the advice! I need both of them! When is Hanne's sister gonna do practice? Anytime soon?

    THANKS HEAPS
to Bomma for guiding me to cycletreads and back and guys at cycletreads to sort out new tyres for me!!

There wasnt any matching tyre so I got

    Rear- IRC RS310 for $109

    and then....

    FRONT "PIRELLI" CITY DEMON!!! $85

I learnt lots today by going through the harbour bridge...:

-make sure the fuel lever is "on"
while I was waiting for Bomma I turened it off coz from my google searching parking for more than 20mins should turn the lever off. Forgot to turn it on and then stuck before entering motorway
(thanks to Lime green Kawasaki guy who stopped for me to make sure I was allright!)

    -Hill start is f**king difficult.
It's just so hard! Stupid Auckland have so many hills and I have to keep holding the rear-brake while Tip-toeing with my right foot, then gotta worry about clutch and throttle! It's not nice!!!

-Right gear for right pace, corner etc...
Still finding it hard to find which gear is right for which situation...

    -Crazy car drivers!
They try to cut lanes whenever they want to! I'm here! Can't you see me!!!???

    -Bridge is so windy!
It is! Gotta duck down to tank, otherwise I'll get blown away

-I do need Straight handle bar!!
I just need it, the bar is too close I think!

    -Dushy got new cool ride!!!
He got a new ride for his girlfriends. One in his lap and rest in the rear box...

dude, seriously, don't bother turning it off. it isn't neccessary. maybe when you park up for the day/night you should bother, but it's only to stop water coalescing and sinking into your carbies (which takes much more than 20 minutes) and make life difficult for theives

    -Hill start is f**king difficult.
It's just so hard! Stupid Auckland have so many hills and I have to keep holding the rear-brake while Tip-toeing with my right foot, then gotta worry about clutch and throttle! It's not nice!!!

remember the front brake! how do you hill start a car? you use the handbrake: same for a bike. use front brake, slowly let out clutch till bike starts pushing against the front (bike will rise slightly) and let off the front brake. you'll start moving every time no problem. after a while you'll get so smooth you can use the clutch to hold yourself on a hill anyway (ten guesses why my clutch is wearing out)

-Right gear for right pace, corner etc...
Still finding it hard to find which gear is right for which situation...

whatever you do don't change while turning unless you have to; the sudden jolt on the rear wheel can cause it to skid, and then it's bye-bye to your crash-free record

    -Crazy car drivers!
They try to cut lanes whenever they want to! I'm here! Can't you see me!!!???

no they can't. assume they're blind and retarded. most of them are.
    EDIT:

    jsut saw the pics;

remember new tyres are very slippery for the first hundred km or so

your L licence limits you to 70kph - that means no motorway riding and for good reason too. if you go do over 80kph with the L plate showing you can expect a ticket. plus you won't be insured in an accident as you're breaking the terms of your licence

    Oh...

I'll stay away from motorway for time being!(please don't report to cops about today )

Yea I need to get wax off from new tyres...

One more thing, I need boots! My chucks high-cut gets hot when engines get hot, need thicker boots!!!

    EDIT:1 more thing to say!

Dushy and Nish was taking piss out of me, and Nish told me its ok, but if I drop the helmet from my waist hight do I need to replace it??

Haven't seen a single cop enforcing that yet.

Insurance is important. Remember, in a accident you were not doing over 70/pulling a wheelie/etc.
