Insurance is important. Remember, in a accident you were not doing over 70/pulling a wheelie/etc.
    That's solid advice there mate

One more thing, I need boots! My chucks high-cut gets hot when engines get hot, need thicker boots!!!

    EDIT:1 more thing to say!

Dushy and Nish was taking piss out of me, and Nish told me its ok, but if I drop the helmet from my waist hight do I need to replace it??
I wasn't taking the piss, you dropped your helmet once of the rear seat on your gn and then proceded to drop it again from above waist height in front of nish and me, get a new helmet, you have only one head bud, protect it. Don't ride in trainers, I know stephen does but i'll have a talk to him about that. lol

in all seriousness and in most other cases i would side with ya on thsi one dush, but with the type of riding that banzai's gonna be doing, i personally dont think he needs to replace his helmet.....my 2 paisas

technically, yes. they absorb impact by breaking, and you just fractured it, lessening it's effectiveness in an accident

but in practice, not just yet - you're likely to just drop it again. soon you'll learn how to keep a hold of it and put it where it can't fall (on the ground or on the end of your handlebar).

so keep this in mind and buy a new helmet after a few more inevitable drops. always buy a new helmet after an accident if you hit your head on the ground. i do hope you didn't spend more than $130 on that helmet

i remember the first time i came off on my learners - felt the helmet squish around my head!

Yes, but there it was a coombination of breaking a couple of riles, plus whatever he'd been doing to get pulled over in the first place.

Doing 100km/h with your L-plate on the back you should be safe, unless the cop really wants to nail you for something.

Hey was looking at xerxesdaphat's photos just now.

    Clip-ons looks so cool!!!!

What are the cons and pros of them? How much do they cost? Are they hard to handle for beginners??

    GN classic racer style

EDIT: From chiller tonight, clipons not good for GN (unless I put backstep kit lol)

    Howbout this? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...42&permanent=0

Why? No? No need for back-step (or rear-sets as we say in English) with clip-ons; GN ones aren't so far out that they make it too horrible.

I've already seen one GN with clip-ons it; the trick is, to put them on top of the top yoke, therefore dropping the front end slightly too (in order to get enough room above the yoke to fit them). GNs have far too much rake stock anyway.

Don't listen to people at the Chiller, they all ride silly modern sportsbikes and have no idea about proper café racer ergonomics Take a look at photos of early Gold Star DBD34 racers, see where their feet are.

Heheh I want a Goldie too mate

The yokes are also known in American English as triple clamps; they are the two flat clamps that join the forks to the frame. The top yoke is the one on top -- on your bike, this is what the handlebars attach to.

Rake is the angle the forks are on. GN250 is sort of baby-cruiser style, so it has a large rake -- the forks are on a big angle. This makes it turn slow and handle like a pig.

Clip-ons can either go below the top yoke (more normal cafe racer style) or on top. You'll probably want the clip-ons on top; this is so the bars aren't too low and the ergonomics are good with respect to the pegs. In order to put the clip-ons on top of the yoke, the forks will have to come up through the yokes so there's fork sticking out the top to clamp to. This will decrease rake (and lower front end), making it turn faster. It can also make it unstable, but the GNs I've seen like this, nobody has reported any problems like tank-slappers or anything.

    you reckon?

being one of the sprotsbike guys at the chiller i was thinking of just normal clip-ons under the tripleclamp(), which of course wouldn't really work so well on a GN where you aren't leaning forward at all.... with banzai's height/size he's already having trouble reaching the bars so putting them further out of reach seems a bit silly....

will post up later today with a photo or something
