    Meh, tried to push it around in funny angle and direction. 150kg of metal is bit too heavy for me, sometime I lose balance and then it's gonna either fall to my side or the other...

    Congratulations,the GN will make a good leaners bike and commuter(I'm keeping mine for commuting).After tyres I would look out for the following on the chinese built ones like mine:1) The chinese chain strecthes really fast so keep an eye on the tension. 2) Lube the tachometer drive at the front wheel.3) don't be surprised when the regulator/rectifier packs up(battery will start running flat). 4) wd40 is your friend lube everything except the tyres and brakes and that should keep the corrosion at bay. Other than that they are a cheap and easy bike to use and run,enjoy.

    OOps to late,your speedo drive at the front wheel has probably siezed,they don't lube them properly when they assemble them,happened to mine just outside warranty.Don't bother with new handle bars unless they are really bent and unsafe,as they are likey to get bent again while you are still learning.
    Haldanes are pretty good but it pisses me off Suzuki don't get the speedo/drive lubed properly when they know its a known fault.

    oh yeah, that sucks

    nearly did that myself this morning mounting a curb - with the brand new fairings on though there was NO way i was letting it fall

    just be sure to learn where to grab your bike when it does that - i dropped my 250 once, and it trying to save it i grabbed it by the helmet lock and made a nasty mess of my fingers (but the bike was OK!)

    Damn ,I was hoping nobody would notice.I mean't the speedo drive,but by the sounds of it it's to late as it already has siezed.

    Fun and games of owning a bike Mr Banzai. last night I left the office on my way home on a 7000km old bike and my rear brake line came loose and dumped all the brake fluid on one of the steepest hills in Auckland (the one near the corner of Princess St and Parliament st that leads down to the Metrolpolis). I had to do the bitch of all hill starts with the front brake whilst clouds of smoke brewed off the exhaust from the leaky fluid.

    Fun and games.

    I punished the bike later on on the ATNR (after i bled the brake and topped it up again).

    Hmm ok, my chain seems ok but I'll keep my eye on.

    From my research they are expensive to replace aren't they? What can I do to prevent that?

    Can I use it for chain as well? Previous owner gave me chain lube as well and I used that couple days ago.

    Haha that's Fun! I haven't been to that hill yet, maybe I should give it a go

    rectifier yes up to $200-300 for a Honda....a GN? maybe less I suppose.

    You only use WD40 on chain when you wanna give it a chain good clean bro. Keep using the chain lube...spray lube every 300km's and use WD40 to clean every 1000km's then lube again. I clean and lube my bike after every big ride....a properly maintained chain will last quite a while.

    Banzai -- the chain is probably OK, being yours is a 2004 GN250. Most of the issues described are a problem on brand-new GN250s (the newer ones are manufactured in China, and the quality is not as good as the Japanese factories), so the problems have most likely been taken care of.

    Nonetheless lubing cables and lubing the chain is a good thing to keep an eye on. WD40 makes a reasonable chain lube, but it flicks off the chain quickly so you have to lube it frequently. Better off using a proper chain lube to make your life easier.

    If you don't have any money for new bars, I've got an old (slightly bent) set of CB250RS bars you can have for nothing. CB250RS bars aren't clubman bars or anything, but they're reasonably flat and would be a lot more comfortable than the GN250 ones. If you rolled them back a little bit they'd almost be perfect. The left side is bent downwards slightly, but it's pretty easy to bend them back into shape.

    keep it well ventilated and make sure it earths correctly

    beyond that there's not much you can do for poorly made electronics but replace them with heavier duty ones

    PM sent!!! I bought WD40 at repco today, can I use it for all Lubrication points mentioned in owner's manual? It says in some parts use motor oil some parts Grease ???

    I think normal flat bar is fine for the moment. At leaset it's gonna look like motorcycle lol

    Well ventilated?? I'm not too sure about it, can you have a look at it sometime?


    I rode GN around today. Took it to work, then took it to Haldanes to get Speedo Cable replaced, met Rie there to find boat shop along Gt South road for ground anchor(Rie needs one to keep her bike from dangerous neighbour guy in Haldane suggested to go some boat shop? along the road) but we couldn't find it lol

    Wen't to warehouse in somewhere to shop for WD40 but none in stock. I had to drop something off to howick so I left, during my trip there I tried Repco in Gt south road near Market RD exit but they didn't have any as well, had time when I arrived at Howick, went to Botany Warehouse but none there too. Then finally found one at Botany Repco!!!

    On the way back I took motorway and "tried" to stay within 80kmh
    How fast can GN go??? I think after 110 it's gonna be very unstable

    Man Banzai that sounds like a bit of riding...gosh you are learning fast bro...keep it up and in no time you will be riding with us all the way round coro-loop etc. But do get that gasket fixed or it will blow up like a rocket launcher and you will have to buy a Honda CBR which last forever ...

    I was doing shopping too but stuff for my house and was driving up and down just trying to find the necessary items...all well sorted now

    Who knows how to bend back bars? I don't have a vice or anything, suspect Banzai doesn't either hehe. Stick 'em on the bike first -- but then what do you hold to stop the front wheel turning?

    4 adults and a pipe might do the trick...did that with a CBR600 result was good...but at 80 bucks why bothered trying to bend something back..because it will never be 100% straight again.. plus new bars look way better...try is out first banzai...afterall the bars will make your bike look like a Honda CB250RRRRRRRRRS...
