Puncture repair

[2 wheel madness]

Pulled my bike out today and discovered all the pressure had gone to the top of my rear tyre. After having a good look at it i found a small nail in one of the tread grooves.
Considering its only just being scrubbed in (about 600ks from new) and its a 190 rear im F**KING PISSED!!!.

So i now find myself wondering what to do, is there a long term fix so i can get my moneys worth or do i find myself looking at a really expensive burnout???

Take it to the bike shop. It can be fixed easily.

I got a repair done on my rear tyre about 4 months ago.

5000ks later and the repair is still good.

On a tubeless bike tyre, as long as the puncher is not on the side wall any good tyre shop or bike shop should be able ta repair it for ya. Make sure they use a tubeless boot repair patch ta repair it, and it will be safe for the rest of the tyre's life.

Best temp repair for a bike tubeless tyre when ya out there trying ta get back is the "dog-turd" system IMHO. It will last ya the rest of the ride, but getting the tyre properly repaired (as above) before ya next ride is highly advisable.

On the 900 Hornet, like you I had a puncture within 1000kms of a new rear tyre. Did the 'dog turd' repair which took 10 mins on the side of the road. I know I should take it to a shop for a more permanent repair but the tyre has done 8000kms now and I have had no problems. Also used the repair on another bike that was equally successful. Both tubeless tyres. But the best repair would be to take it to a shop.

I'v got one of these kits under my seat. Only cost $45 and could be a life saver one day. The main reason they can't be considered permanent, is that if an object has ended up inside the tyre, it could cause damage as it rattles around inside the rim. But if it was a big old nail or something that you could pull completely out, then this repair can be good for the rest of the life of the tyre.

THose dog turd thing really doesork a treat. I had a puncture in the middle of no where, but i had one of these kits under my seat,, took less than ten minutes to fix, and then got another 3000ks of which time i was due for a new tyre any way. Well worth the money, and can so save you a lot of hassels.

"Dog-Turds" are good but I would not advise relying on them on the long term. They are not as safe as a proper tube-less boot. They can still blow out, which the boot if done right will not. Would trust them on the short term but would not stake my life on them on the long term on a bike.

Be aware though that dog turd repairs can be a reason for failing a W.O.F.

Please People, DON'T rely on a 'dog turd' repair as a permanent fix. As soon as ya can get the tyre removed and checked out. I've had plenty of car tyres (and one on draco's cbr) that have looked like a simple fix, but have in fact had a lot of internal damage from the nail digging into the inner wall of the tyre.
DOG TURDS ARE NOT A PERMANENT REPAIR!!!!!
Get a proper 'mushroom' patch in there and you'll be safe as a house, I've done 300+ kph on a proper repaired tyre with no issues, you wouldn't catch me doin that on a 'turd
