It goes straight up the North side of the mountain to North egmont. Nice twisty road and (I imagine) good views from the top, if you aren't stuck in a cloud (as we were).
Back on SH3 going towards New Plymouth you do a bit of a dog leg through Mangorei Rd and Baker Rd to get onto Carrington Rd, which skirts around the edge of the mountain. We went as far as Parihaka Rd and followed it down to the main highway and the lighthouse.
Thanks Rosie. Found it on the map. If we have enough time we will do it - looks like a nice road. I'm only concerned about ice on the road as it climbs up to the mountain. Thanks alot.

If someone wants to read about the Cape egmont lighthouse you can read some interesting stuff here.

Didnt mean that I ment to meet up (although re reading it I now know what it sounded like), hae a few beers, and generally be sociable with the other KB group that will be in the area. Just because you guys are on 250's doesnt mean that we dont like you.

For the record Qkkid was in my bed, not the other way round

I think that would be cool, to meet up with all the other KBers. I think originally Toto was thinking whether to just join the Bust-a-gut gathering instead of having our own tour, but in the end, being on 250s, decided to have our own tour. This way, we can do both!

250s can keep up with big bikes alot of the time. Its only on the straights where they leave us for dead.

Bugger, i wont be able to join you guys for this one. I am shipping out this sunday for New Plymouth to work down there for possibly a couple of weeks. I might be there when you guys come through after all
When you go past Motunui (The big Methanex plant on the right as you're approaching Bell Block just before New Plymouth) give it lots of toots and revs. It'll make my day complete to hear you guys having fun!
