Trademe-like auction site for Kiwi Biker?

Having watched this site grow over the years it has an amazing reach to motorcyclists in NZ. These days nearly all bikers I come across know about the site.

I think it is a about time Kiwibiker launched a subsite, something like "auctions.kiwibiker.co.nz" I know Mr spankme has a huge amount of technical nous & could do it. Also from reading the post on "which OS", there are a lot of other computer geeks on this site.

This is supposed to be (or was), a not for profit site. Selling fees from auctions could help fund site bandwidth fees & other site costs to help keep it up & running.

I use Trademe mainly for buying and selling Motorbike bits & am sick of all the profiteering that is occurring there now. $50 to put up a bike add or auction, that made me real mad

Judging by the number of people here that I have linked with Trademe adds, there are a lot like me; getting their M/C info here & buying & selling on Trademe. Face it the selling section on this site sucks. I don't mind paying selling fees as long as the selling site is run professionally & there is an audience & I am not being ripped. What better place to sell M/C stuff than here!

I am sure that kiwibiker could pull most of the motorcycle related sales from Fairfax (or whoever it was that bought Trademe) if a Kiwibiker auction site was up & running. Just an info e-mail out to all members announcing the new facility would get a large NZ motorcycle audience using it.

How's about it, what do you lot think? & can you convince (his divine shadow)... I know he's a busy boy.

Been suggested by numerous peeps over the years. Spankme has his (valid) reasons for not being interested.

it could be a money winner for the site, half the price of TM. but it will never work as the seller wants to advertise to as many people as possiable, and the buyer wants to go to where all the bikes are at. - that place is trademe.

There is a reason why you'll only have one main auction site per country.
Then I could get a Kb Tshirt, move to Timaru and become a full time crossdressing faggot

The bike trader section has been building up at a fair pace. I'm seeing several bikes pop up each weekend from new members rather than just the one for sale every fortnight from a long time KBer wanting to give the rest of us the first dibs on it.

Leave it be. If it proves to be the best place to sell bikes, I'll evolve into that itself.
